I was reading a link someone had listed on allearsnet this morning. I understand that with our DVC card we get discounts for resturants and shopping in some areas, but my interest was peaked about the AP discounts.
Are AP discounts in addition to DVC discounts?

Question: It mentions, on that link, that for a $60 purchase while holding an annual pass you have access to all different kinds of discounts(resturants, shopping, etc). This discount will be listed to the Main pass holder (i.e. DH) and for $25 he can add me for the same availibility of discounts. Is this concidered the DDE??

The DDP you have to purchase for everyone staying in your party?
The DDE is on the main passholder's card and used towards discounts? It wouldn't not have to be purchased for everyone's AP?

So many of you have such a grand wealth of knowledge on these DIS topics and I 'd like to TIA for any clarification regarding these questions!

The $60 would be for the DDE, it works well for us. It gives 20% off at almost all Disney operated table service and buffet restaurants, 20% off at almost all Disney operated lounges/bars, and 20% off at the value resort food courts & at counter service in AK. It also provides for free valet parking when you visit a resort to dine there (show your DDE and a restaurant receipt, tipping is still appropriate), and 1/2 price admission to Pleasure Island.

The DDE dining discounts are good for up to a party of 10 people, all on the same check. I think the Pleasure Island discount is more limited.

Can you post a link to the information? I'd like to see it for myself.

The cost of the card sounds like DDE (Disney Dining Experience), but DDE only gets you discounts at sit-down restaurants. There's no shopping or other discounts. And DDE doesn't have to be purchased by the "main" passholder. I signed up for DDE so it's in my name, not my husband's. The DDE discount can be used in a sit down restaurant for up to ten people, as long as it's on one bill.

Scroll about halfway down for Discounts for AP's.

Is the link for DDE information.

SO we would pay $60 on one AP and that would get us the DDE for our family and not have to be purchased on each pass? Is that correct?

It really sounds like a great deal for a long stay! SO, you use your DVC membership to get a discount on the AP, then you purchase $60 for DDE to get discounts on all the dining experiences, plus the discounts you can use with just your annual pass? Wish I had :rolleyes1 known....

To be clear, you cannot "stack" discounts. If a participating location offers a DVC discount, a DDE discount and an AP discount, you must choose one. You can't add up the discounts to get a bigger discount.

That said, I have found the DDE to be worth the price. Since I bought last year, I paid only $50 for the card and got an additional card for my DH at no charge. It only took $250 of food to break even. Now I think of the card as giving us "pre-paid" tips! (We usually tip 20% for good service - more for outstanding service).

Best wishes -

That's what I needed to know! Thanks Carol MN and Caskbill! You both are so helpful with all the posts! Sounds Great!

I just renewed my DDE card. Last year the card for my DH was free. This year they were charging an additional $25.00. I declined the additional card since we're always together on vacation anyway. We're a family of mostly adults and usually vacation with a party of five to eight people. Even though we'll be using the DP on our vacation in May I think I'll still get use out of the DDE card. So the DDE is good for the length of your AP or only good for that one trip having to repay the $60 each time you visit?

The DDE is a seperate card from the AP. Truly a seperate program. Only people who are FL residants or AP holders can elect to join DDE. The expiration date is not in any way matched to that of your APs. It is good for one year (plus a little cushion) from the date you purchase your DDE membership. You have to have an active AP or AP voucher to join the program.

THANKS BC!~ Yep we have the AP's for the whole family so I guess all we have to do now is call and get the DDE. Thanks again!
