Hi - just wondered if anyone can tell me how the on going construction is affecting the Regal Palms resort ?

...After reading a lot of good reports on the place, I was shocked to read two very recent (and independent) British holiday reports of how the building work at Regal Palms had ruined their holiday - one even said it was really dirty with building dust , very noisy,..... and in their opinion it wasn't a place to bring kids !! :scared1:

If you have been recently please could you give your honest opinion - we are going in 4 weeks time, and now I am really stressing instead of looking forward to it. :sad1:

Did they happen to mention when their trips were?? This is a new resort/community so there is still ongoing construction going on. I do not know in what phase of completing it they are. Have you contacted someone directly at the Regal Palms to see if they could tell you about what types of work are still being done and in what locations compared to where you will be??

the construction at Regal Palms is complete...they were working on the office/conference rooms building last winter, the pool was complete, and the sales office was done selling any other units at that location...I could be wrong, though..

Is there a new housing development going in behind RP on the Sand Mine Road, maybe?

Ditto kilee, call the resort itself, ask some very direct questions, and then don't forget to let us know what you found out:):)

Both reports were posted Dec '05 - so are quite recent. :confused3

I will take your advice and call the resort.

Hi Jdybnsn :sunny:
We pm'ed a couple of times about the Regal Palms and our experiences with our private owner and our stay Jan/Feb '05. :chat:

My private owner has told us that the health club and all the amenities are completley finished, but there is construction going on behind the Regal Palms with another resort going up. That road, Sandmine Rd. is a very busy industrial/heavy truck road too so that might account for some of their reports? :confused3

We leave in 11 days :cool1: I would be happy to report back any issues that I see there!

Last year when we stayed there was construction to the main building as they were working on the health club portion and there was construction on the townhomes as well, they were building lots more of them. Not once during our stay was this construction a bother to us...

I'll report back when we return! :teeth:

Do you happen to know if any of the Regal Palms homes allow small 5 lb yorkie, well trained? It says on their website they're pet friendly, but I think its the homes only, not the townhouse. We're looking end of April, small home. Thanks for any info. :dog: :paw:

Are you looking for a townhome/condo, or a detached house/villa?

You can search these websites for pet-friendly homes (under advanced search)
www.onlinefloridavillas.com
www.villasflorida.com
www.orlandovillas.com
www.vrbo.com

Most homes will not permit pets of any kind, but there are a number of owners that will - generally, there is an additional cleaning fee, and/or the security deposit is increased:)

And don't forget to scoop! LOL!

HTH!!

Thanks for your replies...I spoke to someone yesterday who stayed at RP last Summer and she said that they never noticed any building work problems then..... even though the Resort was not quite complete at that time. Think she used the same guy as you Onlyoneforme.

Interestingly both of the negative reports came from people booking their townhouses through British holiday companies rather than private owners - perhaps these people were just subject to a 'fast one' by this companies who perhaps had been given reduced rates on these townhouses by RP ? (we British are always getting subject to poor room/villa allocation IMO, as they know the vast majority of British are too polite to complain and will put up with things being less than perfect !).

Meanwhile, I have stopped panicing and I look forward to any updates you can give me :goodvibes
