I'm ok with fingerscans, but i WON'T give a Hair sample!! and nnooooo, it's not because I use "Just For Men!" Ooops....

Respectfully, you may not be aware of the amazing services provided here by the person you're admonishing. Need to know how to get from DHS to Epcot? There's a map for that. The best places from which to view Wishes? There's a map for that. The options to get from the MK parking lot to the actual park? There's a map for that. Just ask - Robo will provide it.

Have a question about, well, anything WDW-related? Robo has the answer. Not a snappy or snarky one. Not a misinformed one. The correct answers. So, once in a great while (=, actually, this one time) he gets a little feisty and reactivates an old thread... about an ongoing issue. Ignore it if you don't like the topic, or the direction, or the posters.

In fact, if you care to not read posts by a given DISer or DISers, you can "ignore" them. See your User Control Panel page.

:thumbsup2!

My thoughts exactly! :thumbsup2 When I was planning our last trip, Robo answered a number of my questions quickly and correctly. I love the maps! The new Fantasyland overlay helped me immensly in understanding what was going to be happening.

And I enjoyed reading this old thread. It gave me something to do at work yesterday. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: If you didn't want to read it, fine, but some of us did.

Respectfully, sometimes you really don't NEED this information. You can tell people that the WL has a boat that goes to MK without posting a "map" of the boat dock.

Respectfully, sometimes people REALLY DO need that information. Because people will invariably ask, "where is the boat dock at WL?" Seriously, they will.

And most of the maps are in direct answers to questions that the map IS IN FACT the correct answer.

He ASKS other people to chime in? It's a message board. People should be welcome to chime in without being invited by another poster!

He does NOT invite people just to chime in because he thinks it needs more posts. We are ALL free to do that. But if someone has an interesting an unusual question, he will let the subject matter experts know about the thread to make sure it gets the attention it deserves.

Which is far more than this thread deserves right now, frankly.

And frankly, Robo saves me a lot of time from posting answers :)

Robo does it because he wants to, not because he needs to (as we all do), and faulting him for it because he decided to have a little fun in the process is not the way to go.

Hmmm...Mouseears-senses tingling...I'm sensing a Moderator nearby contemplating pushing the button...

Sometimes maps aren't necessary in every situation. And Google maps looks very much the same as the ones so very often posted here. ;)

There are plenty of people here capable of that, too. I think maybe sometimes people get tired of the perception that there's only one person who has the answer to all questions?
Well, for example: if the question is "What's the best place to view Wishes?", sure, a map's not 100% necessary - but a map color-coded showing the best, the okay, and the worst locations is more helpful to many people than "the beginning of Main Street" (what's the beginning - the end near the railroad station or the end near the hub, especially given that everyone's introduction to the park is the end of Main Street away from the fireworks). "How can I get from A to B?" can, sure, be described - or for the many of us who are visually-oriented, SEEING the route (again, color-coded on a map) gets us there in a way that a description wouldn't, or at least not as efficiently.

Okay, Google maps are very similar (although I didn't think you could get a street view as close as Robo's maps need to be?). But he VERY helpfully - and it IS helpful - and with NO ulterior motive, has done the research and enhanced the maps.

Not in the parks, but one year I got lost at the same intersection three consecutive nights in three different ways, due to confusing signage. Had I known about the DIS, and Robo, at the time, I could have asked for help here after the first mistake instead of trying to interpret the sign - and I know Robo would have been able to 'draw' the correct route for me. For the record, I can describe where I am and how I got there, but I often have trouble understanding other peoples' descriptions of where to go from here.

I don't believe anyone - myself included - thinks that "only" one person has all the answers. We're pretty intelligent folks (as you well know, being one of us).

Again, if a particular DISer annoys [the general] you, it's easy to put that poster on "ignore". No reason to attack or insult anyone.

If you're tired of telling posters the same thing, just stop doing it.:confused3

There isn't a DIS rule that states you must answer all of the questions posted on the Theme Parks board. There are thousands of DISers that are able and willing to answer questions.

To punish DISers for asking the same questions over and over and over and over and over ...:rotfl2:

Gotta agree with disneyjunkie.

If you're unhappy with the threads, get off the computer. Don't fill the page with a bunch of dredged up old posts that you happen to like better. It's annoying.

I love the fact that this thread has been going since 2007!!! And people are still arguing over it.

If Robo gets tired of answering threads, he doesn't have to do it. I'm sure this isn't a paid job for him. It's not something he HAS to do.

When did this thread become about Robo (and bashing him, which is completely uncalled for I might add).

This thread isn't argumentative (other than when people make personal attacks) and it is discussing a topic that is obviously still of interest today.

The conversation is interesting and the opinions from all sides give everyone lots of things to consider. I think its great that Robo pulled it back up because frankly I found the threads asking the same questions over and over to be boring as well (and no, for those of you who are "posting police" I didn't bother posting on threads I was bored with )

I think this thread had opened the discussion anew and if the moderators felt it was inappropriate they would shut it down. (and very well might now that it has strayed so far from the topic).

One thing I found interesting as I skimmed through the pages was the OP's commentary on bag checks and feeling they were more "for show"

I can speak from experience that I have seen glass bottles, 6 packs of beer, hunting knives and a gun come out of bags that were going through security. In the cases of the glass bottles and alcohol, security offered 2 options A) the confiscate the itemd B) the people are denied entry if they don't hand over the items.

In regards to the gun and knife, the guests were given the options A) return the weapons to your vehicle B) denied admission if refusing to return the weapons to vehicle etc.

Oh, I don't know. It's REALLY helpful to know where the docks are. Sure, there's only one at WL - but since there are three docks at Magic Kingdom, it's VERY helpful to know IN ADVANCE that I'm heading to the correct one. Does that matter if I'm a WL Guest? Probably not, unless I took the bus over (or came from the TTC) and it's my first visit. But if I'm going from MK to Wilderness Lodge for the first time, for, say, dnner? Yes, maps help.

Heck, I did this - and even once I was inside the hotel, and despite spoken directions from a CM, I still couldn't find Artist Point! A Robo-map would have been beneficial!

I guess I thought always thought-- at least for me-- that the the signs on the docks saying "Launch to Wilderness Lodge" would be sufficient in such situations. ;)

Sometimes when I'm feeling like a trouble maker I tell the walmart greeter she can't look at my receipt and keep on walking. :D

I scan my finger at the parks but it's a pain in the rear I wish they wouldn't do. I get the point behind it but I don't have to like it. I don't feel all big brother about it, just that it's a pain.

There are plenty of people here willing to answer questions. I'm pretty sure most of us know how to use google maps.

No one is forcing one person to do it all. We can't control how often questions are posted here.

Well, that's you. As I've stated at least a couple of times, maps work better than signs for me (and yes, I can read; very well, as a matter of fact). Since the maps don't help you, you might want to put Robo on "ignore".

And, again, I wasn't aware Google Maps street view enables as close a photograph as the maps often provided here do.

OH ...Robo has had his snappy and snarky moments. Particularly as they relate to anyone asking about American Idol. ::yes:: He also occasionally answers long involved questions with a simple, "Yes." Which is usually quite amusing in context, but of absolutely no help at all to the person seeking information. :rolleyes1

I have to admit that when I found out that someone had ressurected this thread from years ago just for fun ... I was annoyed. At myself, for not checking the date. And at the person who brought it back, for trolling. I mean ... here's a thread that is CERTAIN to be controversial and argumentative, and it's put here for someone's entertainment. That's trolling, isn't it? But because the popular guy is doing it, it's okay? If, say, si-am had found an old post and popped it up to the main page and got people arguing and such, I'm thinking he'd be seen as a pot-stirrer and be reported to moderators. Yes ... Robo has great power. But with great power comes great responsibility. :wizard:

There are a LOT of very knowledgeable people here who answer quickly and accurately. Just sayin' ...

:earsboy:

Since we are on the topic... is there a website that has all of these wonderful Robo-maps in one place? LOL

Just curious.

Oh btw, I don't care if they scan my finger, my retina, or measure my body fat. Big brother already knows my restaurant habits, what brand of coffee I prefer and where I get my gas from my credit/debit card usage; my personal pin numbers, via ATM's; and can track my physical location via the GPS on my cell phone. It is a reality in this day and age. Doesn't bother me a bit. Life is too short for me to worry about it. I value having fun (WDW) over the possible invasion of privacy.

Where do you think Robo gets his maps from? I don't think he owns and controls his own satellite.

When did I say he annoyed me?

Just as I can ignore Robo, he can ignore questions he's tired of answering.

You didn't - I just felt I had to quote you so that quoted response of the person I was actually addressing made sense (if that makes sense ;)).

I can't believe you people are arguing about someone who graciously volunteers to gather and display useful information.. what's the matter? Missing those ECV threads so you have to attack someone who's only trying to help? Yeah other people have info, but Robo actually collects and simplifies the info for easy access. I say domo arigato mr roboto!
