Um, get a life??

WOW. That was amazing. They cleared up this whole discussion giving details on what Disney does with the information they collect and you tell them to get a life. A lot of the information collected on the DIS is information from people like them and I who work at Disney and truly want to help people out. I doubt I'll be posting on threads like this anymore to help someone out again if thats how my fellow peers are going to be treated.

WOW!! I just realized it was "Robo" who brought back this thread yesterday morning from 2007? Must have been a slow night for questions to comment on a post from 2007?

He's got us all fooled into thinking he's an innocent PDT (Professional Disney Tourist).

I just got tired of only telling posters that-

A- The Barnstormer is not being removed.

B- Nobody knows when Toontown will be closed.

If you're tired of telling posters the same thing, just stop doing it.

There isn't a DIS rule that states you must answer all of the questions posted on the Theme Parks board. There are thousands of DISers that are able and willing to answer questions.

What exactly is the point of dredging up old threads?

Why do that?

To punish DISers for asking the same questions over and over and over and over and over ...

I've read very few of the many posts here so maybe this has been mentioned. If privacy is the issue, simply buy your park pass under an assumed name, Michael Duck sounds good to me, then even if Disney is in cahoots with the Forces of Darkness, your fingerprint will be stored for all time in a server under that name, not yours.

Good thinking! Or, just pay cash. Voila! NO name associated with the ticket, so, no name associated with the resulting finger (not fingerprint) scan. Therefore, NO - I repeat NO - privacy issue whatsoever.

Admittedly, I did not read all 28 pages, so if this has been mentioned already, well, oops...

I have a friend who refuses to do the same thing. She switched tanning businesses after they tied palm prints to packages.

I forget exactly how she explained it, but but it had something to do with religious convictions...kinda how the amish (I think it's the amish) don't like their pictures taken. It didn't completely make sense to me otherwise I'd have remembered the complete explanation.

Just saying that the OP isn't necessarily alone in his uneasiness.

Interesting... so she'll voluntarily (and probably on a regular basis) expose her skin to up-close-and-personal, likely-harmful, UV lighting for vanity purposes - but she wouldn't allow the business to scan her palm for their and her protection against fraud? Interesting...

Most of them along the lines of x-raying the width of the bones in our fingers. We played around with them and used different fingers each time and even swapped out ticket cards with others in our group and nothing ever rang any bells. So it would appear that whatever they're doing with our finger, they're not attaching it to any single entrance card. While I wasn't concerned about it on any level, there is a certain amount of curiosity involved.

Cheshire Figment - the DIS's ticket expert - has written an excellent FAQ. It's a sticky-thread near the top of this forum.

In this specific thread (i.e. not the Everything About WDW Tickets one I indicate above), on page 27 or 26, he was kind enough to paste that thread's post number 14 in its entirety. The portion of your post I bolded is explained FULLY and CLEARLY, right there.

Did anyone stop to think that when you are born, you are finger printed and even foot printed?? So everyone born here has their fingerprints on file already.

I know that my prints are on file with the government because of military service, my husband's, because of military service and police work, and my son's for military service and his work. What is one more time? By doing the scan at WDW, I get to get away from the outside world and that is worth it to me!!!!

The best places from which to view Wishes? There's a map for that. The options to get from the MK parking lot to the actual park? There's a map for that. Just ask - Robo will provide it.

Have a question about, well, anything WDW-related? Robo has the answer. Not a snappy or snarky one. Not a misinformed one. The correct answers. So, once in a great while (=, actually, this one time) he gets a little feisty and reactivates an old thread... about an ongoing issue. Ignore it if you don't like the topic, or the direction, or the posters.

In fact, if you care to not read posts by a given DISer or DISers, you can "ignore" them. See your User Control Panel page.

Maybe - there are a lot of very knowledgeable DISers who have a lot to contribute.

Personally, even when I'm pretty sure I know the answer, I'm always grateful if someone else chimes in to confirm that I know what I'm talking about. I wouldn't want to spread misinformation on the boards, and some of the nuances of Disney policy escape me sometimes. I'm very glad that Robo and Cheshire Figment and katieeldr and the moderators and the other experts back up all of us who are trying to help, because even sometimes people with lots of Disney trips and useful posts can miss something.

Yup, there are plenty of people capable of it. Robo just happens to answer faster than most of us, and has most of the answers. But he also asks some of us to chime in on threads from time to time.

Frankly, I'm sure Robo was having a little fun after a day of answering the same questions over and over. There were something like 4 or 5 identical "can I use two days to park hop" threads active, several "how much is the GAD ticket worth for my upgrade" threads, etc.

Respectfully, sometimes you really don't NEED this information. You can tell people that the WL has a boat that goes to MK without posting a "map" of the boat dock.

If Robo gets tired of answering threads, he doesn't have to do it. I'm sure this isn't a paid job for him. It's not something he HAS to do.
