Refuse to give Disney your Finger-print?

Your above comments make absolutley no sense. Disney's rules clearly allow a person to opt out of the finger scan. What you are insisting is that rules be enforced that do not exisit. Its voluntary. That means any person at any time can say..."I dont wanna.." and that is the end of it.:thumbsup2

The only sense of entitlement we feel is that we are entitled to follow Disney's policy of opting out.

It made all kinds of sense to me!! Disney's rules no not "clearly" allow you to opt out of the finger scan. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, in this case. People who opt out of the finger scan should pay the full one day price for each day of a multi-day ticket.

Are you worried that every criminal database is tied into their system and if a terrorist or child predator enter through the gates warning lights go off and the FBI has an agent on standby at each park to question the alarm?

(just stiring the pot)what happened to that smiley?

..........and it frustrates me when people impose their own anal posting rules on others. If a person wants to read the original post, then give their opinion, who are you to say they shouldn't?

Its not imposing any rules its call common sense. If you are going to start to comment on what people are posting hear then you should invest a little time to be educated on what you are responding to. If you want to talk out of you *** then so be it, but you only make yourself look ignorant.

Wow! Did George Orwell know what he was talking about or what? Big brother(in this case Disney) says to do something so we do. Not only that, but if someone decides to question it, they must be a subversive or a felon. I am just waiting for someone to call the OP a Commie!!
I am sooo glad this thread was started!! Personal liberty is not something to be given up lightly, certainly not so Disney can protect its billions. I love the Ben Franklin quote and all the arguments about identity theft. It is similar to me, to going to a store and giving them your phone # just because they ask for it- no thank you works just fine!

Absolutley agree! You notice how they look at you when you won't give you phone number?? LOL

If I am there with my two daughters and the guy behind me is a pedophile, he now has the phone number should I give it to the clerk when asked? NO THANKS!

But wait, we must be felons or hiding something! After all its just a phone number.:confused3

I am so tired of everyone saying they have nothing to hide, or disney already has all your info so it doesn't matter, or government has my prints already. This is not and was not the issue. :scared1:
I a tired of people being paranoid but we all can't get what we want
The issue is theives getting into the sytem and matching the info to what disney has on file. I know you are going to say it will never happen. How do you know. the technology to breach companies systems are getting better and better.:scared:
and if they did what else could they access with non fingerprint scan of your fingers?
I see from reading all these post that a lot of people go through life and never question why they are being asked for something. As my original post said I have dealt with having my identity stolen and it is not fun. It has taken over 5 years to fix everything. I still had to write letters to the mortage company so my DH and I can buy our house.
strangely we all have to write to the mortgage company when buying a house
The recent TJX theft was recently shown how they stole millions of peoples info. From a wireless antena that was in one of the stores. The theives figured out how to tapp into the signal and intercept all info coming through the cash registers. We have no idea if and how someone may get this info from disney and then be able to use this to open a door to more personal info on disneys system.

If you aren't going to read all the post, then maybe you should comment at all. It frustrates me  when people respond and they have no idea what has actually been posted.

Again I hope all these people who would hand over there first born if told to do so without question never have there identity stolen or you will be singing :rolleyes1 a whole different tune to the Op.
Handing over first born! arn't you going a little far here?

I am going to comment one time on this.
You are lucky I don't work at the gate.
You and your family should be escorted to an office and questioned and strip searched if you think you have that much to hide. :cool2:
This is crazy. Don't buck the system.
Disney has procedures like this in place for your saftey as well as everyone elses.
The CM's you have ran into at the gates just don't want a confrontation which is what it appears to me you are looking for.
I hope that one time you get detained long enough that your 10-30 seconds each other trip vanish.:hourglass
Good luck with your way of thinking you are now invited to rejoin the rest of the earthly community..:wizard:
Good Day

LOL.. Wow is it the 80's and are we back in the former Soviet Union??:rotfl:

No confrontation wanted. In fact we did not say a word to the one CM who wanted to argue about it. Just smiled and walked through. However if you were the CM and required a strip search, then there would be confrontation along with a title 42 lawsuit! ;) LOL

Disney allowes folks to opt out. What about that don't you understand. Its a voluntary system. :thumbsup2

What about equality for all?

Just what freedom are you giving up?

I didn't read all 8 pages, but I wanted to say that I don't know about where you all live, but in my town, you have to give your thumbprint to cash a check at ANY bank. Does the OP refuse to do this as well?

We have used the same small bank for many years. Never once has anyone ever asked me for a thumb or finger print. Should that happen, it would certainly be their right to ask, as it would be my right to immediatley take my banking business elsewhere.

Handing over first born! arn't you going a little far here?

People have said on this thread that they would be ok with giving a DNA sample to get into the parks... so they are not far away from handing over their first born!

I just encourage people to think for themselves and make an informed decision about when something like this is optional, that's all. Unfortunately I think most people have to learn the hard way about giving out too must personal information... people like to think the best of others.

Dude, if a person wants to comment on the O.P. , they are in no way, shape or form responsible for every other post. They aren't ones looking ignorant here..........

Gee....what do you think they would do with??????????
I see no reason to object....and think it's somewhat paranoid...JMHO:cool1:

Same here.
I find that pretty odd.
I've never even thought about it before and I don't care. I haven't committed any crimes so I don't care if they have my fingerprint or not.

ITA. My tanning salon started tracking cleint memberships by fingerprints, and I stopped going there because I felt it was an invasion of my privacy.

I also didn't need the laugh lines, but that's another story! :3dglasses

popcorn:: This is a fun one! Hope it doesn't get shut down!!!

This thread has gotten very long, very fast, so a lot of folks are just commenting on the OP without reading the whole thread. Let me refer you all back to my first post in this thread (#76, at the very top of Page 6):

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1445282&page=6

In that post I explain why I dislike the finger scans and what it is about them that makes me nervous.

1) That's a mighty extreme reaction to the OP. I guess we really are lucky you don't work the gate. Let me remind you that Disney does not require the finger scan - you have the option of showing ID instead.

2) What's crazy is automatically doing anything you are told, no matter how invasive or unsettling, without question. Blind faith is the surest path to abuse.

3) I'll buck any system that I feel is unreasonably invasive of my privacy, or that I feel is illegal, un-Constitutional, or dangerous, whether it's a government system or one from a private company. Standing up for your rights as an individual is the most patriotic, American thing a person can do; the Founding Fathers standing up for their rights is the whole reason this country exists in the first place.

4) This system is demonstrably NOT in place for anyone's safety. It is in place to prevent sharing and transferring of park passes.

5) I disagree that the OP is looking for a confrontation. OP simply seems uncomfortable about the finger scan; I understand this, because I am too.

6) I hope whatever you wish on other people, good or bad, comes back on you.

7) Here on earth, we like to protect ourselves from identity theft, stalking, and plain old house burglaries, by limiting the amount of our personal info that floats around in the public domain.

And YES, I most certainly do have something to hide - my LIFE. I have a right to privacy, and I dislike anything that erodes that right, even a small thing like Disney keeping a biometric identifier tag from me and storing it along with my other sensitive personal information.

For the record, I also don't like the bag checks, which is why I limit my park paraphernalia to stuff I can carry on my belt or in my pockets, so I can skip the bag check most of the time. When I do have a bag of some kind, I comply with the mandatory bag check - I just don't like it.

Exactly right. The bag searches are as voluntary as the finger scans. You can opt out by leaving your bag behind.

People have said on this thread that they would be ok with giving a DNA sample to get into the parks... so they are not far away from handing over their first born!

Not far away, you have to be kidding they wont let them go to the bathroom alone.

If it makes you that "nervous" don't go PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!!

you know what makes me mad!!! People who hold up the line that refuse to comply with the smallest things

LOL. Sorry to say...I have seen many more people hold up the line when the scans do not function properly and they have to do it over and over and over again!:rotfl:

By opting out the CM pushes a button and presto you are through.

Not far away, you have to be kidding they wont let them go to the bathroom alone.

Hey, if they are willing to give a dna sample, disney might make clones of them and then they might be giving away their first born. just joking.

If I went to your house and didnt take off my shoes even if you asked because it impeded against my rights as an American, what would you do? Im sure you would ask me to leave. So why is it wrong if Disney does the same thing to you?

That would be a different matter altogether. WDW has stated the system is voluntary, therefore it would be silling for them to ask someone to leave for declining to do something that is VOLUNTARY.

At the end of the day you do not have to go to DIsneyworld. If you do not approve don't go or just suck it up.

Actually, at the end of the day, folks do not have to do the scan at all since its not in any way a REQUIREMENT.

I take no issue with your right to submit to the voluntary policy, why do you take issue with the rights of others to opt out of the voluntary policy as Disney allows?:confused3

Good lord, I think only criminals should be worried about it.

The way our government abuses its power, I would not put it past them to demand Disney turn this info over to them much as they have the telephone companies and you know what happened there. I really don't mind it though due to my understanding no real finger print is taken. If one was I too would object. Absolute power corrcupts absolutely and this admininstration has proven it time and time again....smjj
