I really wish Disneyland would release their calendar like 6 months in advance. I have to imagine there is a TON of people like me who have to plan a vacation 6 months + ahead. Splash was closed last time we went and I'm worried it will be again. Will be so sad if we miss it again!

I'm in the same boat. We typically take vacation in January/February because my busy season at work is over and our son isn't in school yet (starts Kindergarten next year), so we like to take advantage of smaller crowds while we still can. The main reason we're going is for Carsland. I'm just praying (literally, I think about it during my nightly prayers!) that nothing in Carsland is in refurb the last week of January!:worship:

I know that folks get tired of hearing this, but in general DLR is still a "locals" park. I do think there has been a influx of non-local guests this year (at least based on the Disboards), but I suspect that the majority of DLR guests are still locals/semi-local guests that aren't going to plan their trips 6-months in advance. I do wish the calendars would come out together (dining, operations, and entertainment).

I really wonder what the statistics are these days on that though. It seems like it would be more 50/50 with locals vs. travelers. I mean we are in Northern Utah and EVERYONE here frequently goes to Disneyland it seems. We will have fun either way. :) I'm just grateful to be going. I will just be sad to miss Splash again.

I agree with you, figment_jii. Right or wrong, practical or impractical, convenient or inconvenient, Disneyland Resort just doesn't operate like Walt Disney World does in a lot of ways -- primarily due to the visitor base being largely comprised of locals, or at least people who can get back to DLR reasonably often. Sometimes that is for the best as there are certain things that work better for/at WDW than they would for/at DLR. Other times it would be nice to learn dates and info months and months in advance (both the locals and non-locals wouldn't mind knowing dates).

That's basically why the Disney Parks Blog can get away with waiting until September to announce official holiday season dates for November -- because it is assumed that the majority of visitors are locals or returning semi-locals, and therefore they won't need to plan out their agendas 6 months in advance.

I noticed that the November hours started to show up yesterday like 1st November like and it had Plaza as closed for refurb? How long will that be for?

I just made reservations at Plaza Inn for 21/11 so I'm guessing not a long refurb

Yeah I can see what you all are saying! Just crossing my fingers it's not too bad! :) Like I said though I'm just grateful to be going! :D
