Refurbished iPhone?

I know that many on these boards have had good experiences purchasing refurbished ipods, but has anyone bought a refurbed iphone? I'm looking at either a refurbed 16GB or a new 8GB. I tend to be leery of refurbished products as a whole. Any experience with these? If I was to go with the new 8GB, is that enough storage? Is the memory only for storing apps and music/videos, or does it affect internet usage too? Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm brand new to all of this!

Thanks for any help you can give!

I bought a refurb 8GB iphone from the apple store online. Paid $50! Have had it for several months with no problems. I have a ton of apps that my 8yr old downloaded (I don't even use them) it does not affect my internet usage at all. I love my phone!:thumbsup2

My iPhone is a refurb from AT&T. I've had it about a year now, maybe even longer than that, and I haven't had any problems at all. When I bought it, I was able to get the refurb for about 1/2 the price of a new one. I'd do it again.

The reason they are so discounted now is because the new iphone is coming out soon.

You probably should make sure you don't need the features in the new iphone before buying the current one.

I think you can only get that price at Walmart if it's a new contract or you are eligible for an upgrade. Otherwise, you pay full price.

We have a refurb Nano 4G and two refurb 3GS 16GB. No problems, really. DW's iphone volume bar in the iPod program screws up sometimes but rebooting the phone fixes it. No other problems with either. We aslo have a refurb iMac. I have no problems at all with refurbs from Mac.

Just a reminder that unlike "Factory New" which have a sample rate of 1:1000 for defects, the refurbished Iphones have a 1:1 sample rate.

Someone had to spend some hands on time with the refurbish, and painstakingly review every little piece of it to ensure it was working. They are generally re-cased as well (meaning you get a brand new shell no-scratches).

I would trust a REAL refurb (vs a store return) at any time.

This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say.

Also, re. what someone said about the new iPhone coming out, there's supposed to be an announcement on June 7. If you can hold off a little bit, it might be worth checking out what all that one's gonna pack before you jump on the previous model. :)

I have a refurb 3G. No issues whatsoever. Altho you might want to look at walmart now, 97 bucks for an iphone 3gs.

I got a refurbished iPhone from the Apple website almost a year ago and it was and still is perfect.
