Checked the Disney website but they only have the schedule up through mid-December. I am looking at a trip in mid-January and wonder what will be closed for refurb, taking down holiday decorations, etc. I know DCA will still be a mess of construction walls, but any further insight would be appreciated! :)

Haunted Mansion takes a while to "undeck" the halls, or "remove the holiday overlay" as Disney calls it. "It's a Small World" takes a few days as well, but not that long. Those are the "biggies" that come to mind at the moment.

I believe I read somewhere that Matterhorn will be down for a while after the holidays!

That is the magic question! We have been the Weds/Thursday/Friday after MLK for the last three years and if I remember right, here's some of the closures:

2011. Splash, Star Tours and Grizzly River Run.
2010. IASW, Pirate Island (that's all I recall, must have been a few more, if not we got lucky)
2009. Haunted House, Matterhorn, IASW

This is evidence for one fact. After the Holidays major attractions recieve major refurbishments.

From about January 7th to March 15th, that's Holidays to Spring break, is the longest period of offseason to do major work.

While not attractions, In DL Carnation Gardens Plaza, and about 1/4 quarter of Main Street will close for retheming and remodeling.

Thanks, all! At least POTC and Redwood Challenge Trail should be completed by then, and those are some of our favorites - that's why we didn't go last weekend as originally planned. The only other closure that might make us reconsider our dates would be GRR, I think. I'll just have to keep an eye on the Disney calendar and of course the Dis!

Mouse planets weekly update is a good source. They often have things before they are listed on the calendar. As of this week they don't show what rides will be under refurb after the holidays or the holiday overlay removal schedule.

I'm also very interested in the holiday removal schedule. I'll be there late January during the Tinkerbell 1/2 marathon (27th & 28th) and would really, really like to see original Haunted Mansion. We'll see how it goes.

You will be fine that late. Usually HMH closes first, IASW second to remove the overlays. Of course HM could need an unrelated rehab.
