:confused3 I am looking for someone that knows how Refunding a Rewards Card works.I made a reservation for Dec @ POR and paid part of it with my Disney Rewards Card. I now have to cancel my Reservation and get a refund on the rewards card. It is supposed to work just like a regular Credit Card I'm told, but I haven't been able to find a CRO that knows how this works, and I'm affraid that I may end up losing my reward dollars somehow. Does anyone know how to refund a Rewards Card?

I would call chase and ask but I'm pretty sure you lose them. If your going in the future just make a new reservation & transfer the deposit. Then you won't lose the reward.

I have first hand experience with this .... you canNOT get a refund to your Disney Rewards Card ... you will lose them if you don't apply them to a future reservation!

I love the Rewards Card .. but I only use it for things I am certain I will not be returning.

I called Chase, and they said Rewards can be refunded, but they don't do it. After the points are transferred to a rewards card, Disney takes over. She said to me she was really tired of people calling and asking this same question. Excuuuuse Me! I decided to read the 'rules and conditions' of the Rewards card on the Chase site myself, and sure enough you don't lose them. You get a full refund. I just can't find a CRO who knows how to do it.
As for transferring my deposit, I wish I could do that, but you can't transfer a deposit from a regular reservation to a 'group' reservation. It is a completely different office and proceedure. My Travel Agent told me that, and the Disney Guest Services person said the same thing. I actually have to cancel the reservation, get a refund, then start a new reservation from the beginning. It's very confusing and frustrating.

maybe that is what happened to me last year. but I'm pretty sure you cannot get a rewards card refund.

I had paid for part of our room with the rewards card but then decided to leave a day early (no penalty b/c we were not on a package). the cm could not figure out how to refund the rewards card but promised that he would.

it never happened.

I had to refute a credit card charge (which is the way I had paid for the other part of the bill) in order to get any attention with the matter.

once i did that, disney refunded the entire amount to my cc ... b/c they said it couldn't be refunded to a rewards card.

THIS YEAR ... I used my rewards card only for 'purchases' at gift shops, etc. where I was pretty sure I wouldn't be returning anything for a refund.

I went back to the Chase website to read the rules again, just to make sure they're actually refundable.
Click on 'Managing Rewards Balance' and in the drop down menu select 'View Terms and Conditions'. Scroll down to 'Redemption of Disney Reward Dollars' It says this:

Disney products and merchandise acquired through redemption of Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM using a Disney RewardsSM Card can be returned, subject to return policies, that may vary based on the retail location, at designated point of sale locations, and the Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM originally redeemed for such returned products and merchandise can be restored back to the Disney RewardsSM Card provided that you have the original receipt for the redemption and a valid Disney RewardsSM Card. You agree that you are responsible for checking in advance (i) whether a specific retail point of sale location will accept the Disney RewardsSM Card, (ii) as to the Disney products and merchandise that the Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM can be redeemed for through use of the Disney RewardsSM Card, and (iii) as to the return privileges at specific retail point of sale locations and for specific products and merchandise.

Even the Disney Guest Services person said they were refundable, she just wasn't sure of the proceedure. She told me she would try to find out and get back to me next week. We'll see.

Your situation sounds very similar to mine. Apparently the CRO's still haven't found out how this works. They finally sent me over to the Guest Services person, and she seems very willing to get an answer for me. Even if I get the refund to the card this time, I would like to see a Memo placed at the desks of the CRO's so they all become familiar with the steps involved in refunding the reward dollars back to the rewards card. I have a feeling we might be seeing this problem becoming more common as more and more people use their cards to pay for their Room reservations.

just an fyi:
disney reward cards are processed for payment as a gift card or merch credit.
refunds are processed the same way; the steps are identical to crediting back a GC.

That's what I was thinking. I don't really understand why it stumps the CRO's so much. I sure hope nothing goes wrong. I used the promotion called 'pool your rewards from friends and family' and I had three cards with $50 each that I used for my reservation. So now I guess instead of crediting one card back, they have to credit 3 cards.
