Ok. I've recently booked paying about $198 r/t from Manchester.

Let's say that a Ding promotion or just a decline in fairs come along, here's my thoughts;

1) Could I call SWA and get a credit for the price difference?

2) If I accomplish #1, can I buy other family members tickets with my credit? They will be travelling a few days after me.

That way, they can pay me the difference, and we're all good to go!

I just called SW with the same question. You have to first cancel your original reservations and then rebook with the Ding fare. The credit stays on account for one year from the time you booked the first time (prior to the Ding Fare). I wish I could answer #2 for you...

You can buy another family members ticket using the credit, the credit shows up immediately !

Is there a charge for cancelling a previously booked flight if a Ding fare comes out.

Is it recommended to book the DING fare first and then cancel the reservation?

Can you make a DING reservation by phone or must it be done on the internet??

I was told today by a very snippy SW customer service person that I HAVE TO cancel the original reservation first and then book the DING fare. She said to make sure your flights are available for the DING fare before cancelling the first one. She also told me I had to cancel and book both
on-line.

unless you want ALL of your credit for another trip - you can not book the DING and then cancel. If you do, you are paying more cash out of pocket for the DING rate and then are stuck with $$$ in credit to SW. We don't mind doing this if we have to since DH flies a lot for business and uses SW enough that we would use the credit.

Last year, I cancelled my regular ressies and went to rebook with DING rates and they were already taken. :sad2: It happens very quick, esp with a good DING rate. I suggest if you do cancel, do it with one window open and another window open ready to rebook. Also think about a change in time - maybe not taking the same exact flight but still the same day.

My main thing is to also try and fly Tues, Wed and Sat - easiest times to get DING rates. HTH
