Refund on Placeholder question

Hi! Can anyone verify if I can get a refund on my placeholder if it’s already been changed into a reservation but it’s far enough out to cancel without penalty. Can I get it refunded to my credit card or does it have to be transferred to another cruise? I know you can refund it if it’s a placeholder, I just wasn’t sure what the rule was after it becomes a reservation. TIA!

Yes. We used a placeholder to book a cruise and ended up having to cancel the cruise before the PIF (we had booked it for right at the end of the 24 month window, so we couldn’t move it to another cruise given our schedule). They refunded the full deposit to our credit card. No issues at all.

Yes. We have gotten a refund for a placeholder that was already on a booking. Refunded to a Disney rewards card actually. No problem.

Just to add...our experience has also been that Disney refunds it back to the method of original payment. So, if you used a gift card (which we have while booking on a previous cruise), you need to keep that card so that they can refund it to it. Same for rewards card, credit card, etc.

Thankfully I paid for the deposit and the certificate with the same card. I called and cancelled without a problem. Thanks for your help everyone!
