Refund from Irma

I was at Disney World and left on Sept 8 due to Irma. I was told by the cast member it would take up to 14 days to receive the refund. I am due to receive 2 days at the resort, 1 park day and the water park ticket refunded.

Anyone else still waiting on refunds?

Same issue, we left the morning of the 9th and were due 4 resort days + dining, 3 ticket days and something for shortened photo pass. Finally got the refund on Friday of last week after a ton of calling, emailing and being redirected. Overall, I felt like we were shorted a bit. We received the refund for the resort and dining, but on the tickets we were only credited the difference between a 2 day park hopper and a 5 day park hopper. Additionally, they wouldn't refund the photo pass because we did use it the 2 days in the parks. I feel like we should have been refunded 3/5ths of the tickets and photo pass, as opposed to their system. Really, I felt like we were shorted about $800. I am just tired of arguing with them and waiting on hold. Good luck, it's a nightmare...

Right, I completely understand that in a normal circumstance, that would be their policy. I also understand why they front load ticket pricing. However, in this instance, they closed the parks, rendering the tickets unusable. While I agree with their decision to close the parks, and mine to leave, I would have been unable to use the tickets for next three days. Due to the value proposition, I would never purchase a two day only ticket. I was unable to take advantage of the pricing. Again, I understand why they closed, why I left, and why their normal policy would be to refund the difference. In this instance, I think they are wrong...or they should have offered us a 3 day park hopper ticket to be used later.

Did you have trip insurance through another company? You should be able to recoup the cost that way? If not, last year we were stuck extra days during hurricane Matthew and they I felt went above and beyond to help us with being able to keep our room (had to pay more bc it was 3 more nights-but at a fraction of the costs) they helped us with adding some free meals as we were on the dinning plan, and our park passes were $5 a person for the extra days. I figured they knew we were bound to spend $$$ staying an extra 3 days and we sure did! But if you are leaving early not only are they giving the refund but missing out on all your souvenir buying etc. not saying it's right

Did you ask for a 3 day hopper instead of a refund? Sounds like a reasonable request.

Thanks everyone for all of the input, sorry Samantha, I didn't mean to highjack your thread! I hope you were able to get your refund resolved. Really just was trying to share our experience and vent a bit :)

The trip insurance was Disney's trip insurance company, and they only refunded our rental car cost and the cost of the lost plane ticket (we couldn't get a flight out). They said since Disney was handling the refunds in-house, we would have to go through them. We're going back and I have expressed that to them, so they'll get our money and then some ;)

I agree, it seemed reasonable to me as well. Unfortunately, they said that they were refunding only due to the number of requests, which I totally get I just don't agree with the way they came to the refund amount. In the end, we are returning in November to finish our trip (so they are still getting our money we were going to spend and then some!), they threw in a free memory maker and really everyone I spoke with was excellent. We decided to rent DVC points this time, and it was quite a bit less (wish I would have known about that before we booked last time, should have spent more time on these boards!), so win on that end! They gave me an email address to file a complaint, but as much work as it has been to get the refund and the free memory maker, I'm just not up for the effort. We'll hope for a little extra magic when we go back next month, and if not, I'm sure our girls will love it anyway!

I understand why you feel like you deserved more. However it sounds like Disney refunded you what you paid for. You got the 3rd,4th and 5th day of tickets refunded and they even threw in a free memory maker for your upcoming trip. If you are not happy then why not take the time to use that email address and write to them? I'm not sure it will do any good considering they gave you back what you paid and added a value of 149.00 for free, but if you aren't happy then I think you should at least take the time to let them know.
