Hi,

We will be traveling with friends in Nov 2005. They have three children. One of them is on medication that has to be keep refridgerated. She was provided with travel case that she has to put ice packs in when they travel. The medician is given via an epipen type shot. She has a letter that she was told to use if they fly. So my question is when we arrive at the resort if the room is not ready is there anywher to store meds? The med is human growth hormone. Does anyone have any experiance with meds and refridgeration?

My DW is on insulin. She has the same travel case that you describe to keep her medication in. The past three resorts we stayed (POFQ, POLY and BC), Bell Services had a refrigerator to allow you to store the meds in. Just tell them when you drop off your luggage. They we so kind as to escort us back to the refrigerator each time. Shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure about where to store it when you're waiting for your room to open up, but surely they should have some sort of refrigeration for meds. Just think of all the Diabetics, for example, visiiting WDW; surely they've run into this plenty of times before. When I read the tittle, I was simply gonna reply that you are entitled to a free in-room fridge to store meds (a tiny one), but apparently you already know that; also, most of the on-site resorts at levels Moderate and above (maybe only deluxe) are installing free in-room mini fridges anyway.

I suggest that you post this on the DISabilities board where there are plenty of other folks bringing special meds for themselves or loved ones. There is very likely someone there who can speak from personal experience.

Good luck!

yes they have fridges they can store it in for you while waiting for your room.. not to worry..

I have stored my meds (also in the same travel case that you described) with Bell services before while waiting for a room. No problem & the Resorts couldn't have been more helpful.

Also, if they need to do an injection during a Park visit - no problem. I bring my injection kit to Park First Aid in the morning & they keep it refridgerated. When it is time for my shot, I go to First Aid & they give me a room & any supplies I need (I always have my own, but I do use their guaze sometimes)

That has come in very handy for me.

Thanks for all of the replies. My friends will be very relieved. The shot it given everynight at bedtime so we should not have to worry about shots in the park but that is great to know that the first aid areas support this service. Thanks again to all for the replies.

Yes, we too had to have meds refridgerated for our daughter (Heart medicine), this was no problem at all, they will store for you, mark it
up with a label, just ensure they realize the importance of it.

I think we asked the valet guy like 10 times or so, we are not afraid
of speaking up when it comes to medication for our little DD.

We just brought frozen gel pacs with a cold pac carrier on the plane.
Piece of cake.

Enjoy

Thanks RayJay. Our friends are going to be very relieved to hear that traveling with the meds will not be an issue.
