Thanks all, having trouble google/forum searching the info I need THAT I KNOW I HAVE READ ONE MILLION TIMES!! hahahah

1) 2 cabins, across the hall and one room down from each other. We will sleep with myself and DH in one cabin, MIL and DS in the other. Our final "official" booking is myself and MIL in one, DH&DS in the other to optimize gold benefits across the board. I know that a) DCL doesn't care where we sleep really (go to the right muster station!) and b) allegedly credit card info can be confirmed and straighten out at the port.

Whats the easiest way to do this? We've had weirdness with DCL and credit charges before and I don't want to waste time on the computer for something we redo and reconfirm at port? All but MIL will be on the same credit cards. I checked in last night for our room to book things, but i just put the most minimal info so I could book excursions and port time. Also, basically do you get an "extra" card so everyone has a room card to the room they sleep in or can one card open more than one room? That doesn't seem right....I know there is a trick to this but I can't remember or find it.

2) Cabana 24.... Why do I know that number? Is there something weird about Cabana 24? Is it haunted? Weird? I don't know! We are gold and checked in at 1201 EST. There were 2 cabanas, 24 and 25 available. 25 disappeared as I tried to book. But 24 was available for the 20 minutes it took me to figure out that it would not let me book for the party of 4 (even though all names showed up), but it would let me book it under myself and MIL (who are the ones in the same room that I did online check in for). Weird. I started to think it was a ghost cabana that taunted you and could never be booked!

I'm laughing at myself because i think the cabana frenzy is so dumb and yet MIL expressed desire (we shared one with friends on her first cruise) and so here I am!!!

TIA for any thoughts!

Key cards- the key card for the cabin the person is assigned to will be their ID card. They will need this card to get off and on the ship and to charge anything.
If they are sleeping in another cabin they will need to get another key card to open that cabin.
Children can only get off the ship with the adult assigned to their cabin. You will need to go to Guest Services and fill out paperwork so they can get off with all adults in the family.

Once you board go to Guest Services and your MIL can put down a credit card to just her key card for her charges

It seems like the easiest thing to do here would be to put your MIL's credit card on for charges to her room and then get an extra card for your family room and use that for purchases. Then you would only need to use your booked room card for the safety drill and getting on and off the ship.

You don't mention DS's age, but this cabana is on SB. If he is under 18, that is probably why he can't be added.

Thanks all - he'll be 22 so thats not it but I hadn't thought of that! Mostly I just wanted reassurance that we can make all the charges nice at port! I'll be rechecking it all there furiously anyway, so why redo it 14 times! Ha! It sounds like we will get two extra room keys, so no one loses someone else official KTTW!

and DS and DH names showed up but then it would say there is not availability for that time or that party size. i know every cabana fits more than 4. but i only did the check in options for the room i am in (to try and get the cabana), so i figure that has something to do with it since that room isn't "checked in"? but they were ungreyed so that was weird.

Now just hurry up and wait! I'm weirded out because it appears we did get the last cabana. i keep looking at our reservation and it's still there. so, if you are gold, at 1201 you could maybe get the last cabana on a thanksgiving cruise! ha!

We usually sail with three of us that are platinum and 4 or 5 that aren't. My travel agent always arranges cabins so there is a platinum in each cabin to get all the benefits like a free dinner at palo, bottle of wine and better gifts. Then when we get onboard we simpky get second cards for the rooms so that we all can sleep where we want. Has never been a problem.

OK, this is the weird part. Cabana 24 shows as available when I go to the "add activities". It's the only cabana of all the numbers that shows as available, but is does show in our booked activities as a confirmed excursion. Maybe it just shows up like that because I'm the one who booked the cabana?

Your cabana will show up on the available list, but only to you. When someone else logs in they will not see it as being available. We have #24 reserved for our Nov 11 cruise and the only thing that might be considered a negative is that it is fairly close to #23. We have #25 reserved for our Nov 15 cruise and it is a little more isolated than the others. We have also stayed in #22 and it was ideal - not right next to anyone and closest to bathrooms. Honestly, I would be happy with any of them! Enjoy your cruise and #24!
