well, how much do you know about plumbing?
It was much easier to remove and replace the cover without the heat pipe in place.
I forgot that the back metal plate had flanges holding the pipe...![]()
that is not a disaster... this is! it started by looking like my pictures above.
and then we checked the sub floor and it looked like this:

Yikes! I don't know much about plumbing. Is it something I could learn?
Where does the water go when you take the pipe apart? If the heat isn't on and the water isn't circulating is the pipe empty?
He struggled but he finally got the old one off and the new one on. Then he asked me for the end caps. I thought that they came with the cover. Nope! I had to go back to Home Depot, buy the end caps, remove a screw that I can't get back in but it looks okay. I am painting tomorrow. While he was here I asked him to measure the 6 ft unit in my master bath and told him to get whatever brand he likes to work with. So he will be back. No more plumbing projects for me.
