Refillable Souvenir Cup

I'm hoping someone can help with my question. We have a Spongebob souvenir cup (it's not a character cup) we bought many, many years ago. Since they now have the freestyle cups can we will still get a discounted refill in our old Spongebob cup or do we have to buy a new freestyle cup? We were at Universal about 3 months ago and my husband asked about the popcorn bucket but didn't ask about the old cup. I always thought they were good forever.

I have the old dueling dragons mug
Bought it when the ride started operating

I bring it back with me for my vacations

I do not get free refills but have received the discount price for refills

Last time I used it was my October trip

Not sure we are talking about the same drink mug program

Mine was the ride mug which allowed the owner refills at a discounted price

Was yours bought as a lifetime free refillable mug ?
