Refillable Mugs?

LOL, Barry! The difference is that not only do we purchase the mugs at Universal we also pay to refill them. Yes, I was very hesitant to bring up the topic. I don't think that the flamers hang out here like they do at some of the WDW sites (I remember one that would get a bit nasty from maybe a year ago, but haven't seen him lately--think he got insulted and left-lol). I have seen so many neutral subjects get nasty on the WDW board. How can transportation get nasty? And I'm a female and it gets too tempting to jump in a cat fight so I try to stay out all together.

so wait....you buy refillable cups so that you pay a discounted price for refills??? is this correct?? so its not exactly like the WDW cups where its a one time fee for the cup and free refills??

True. The cups cost around $5.00 or so. (Some may cost more but my MIB cup cost around $5 and that is with the drink included.) Then the refills are $1.25 plus tax which make the refills exactly $1.34. This is much cheaper than even a small soft drink.

I haven't ever seen them on a website. They sell them at all the vendors and also at the restaurants inside the park.

The MIB refillable mug is only $5? What a bargain! Is this the one with a handle that can be attached to a belt, etc? I might just have to bring the Sponge Bob mug with me from home and buy a MiB mug. That would mean our family would have 3 mugs when we all return in April (my DH has a Spiderman mug). My husband can quit yelling at our 13yo to save some drink for the rest of us. lol

Are there free refills with the MiB mugs the first day like with some of the others? We weren't told about the free refills the first day until we went to refill on the second day so were instead given free refills the second day. Or do all these details change seasonally?

It can be refilled the first day and anytime thereafter. The MIB is a long skinny cup with a long handle. I can thread my belt through the handle or wear it on a lanyard.

I just checked yesterday on prices for the cups. The Jimmy Neutron and MIB cups were $4.99 plus tax and the Sponge Bob was $9.99 plus tax. Sponge Bob is more than any of the other cups in the park because they hold more. These prices also include the softdrink when you first purchase them. After that refills are $1.25 plus tax.

I asked about refills on for more than one day and was told that they used to have a sticker for each day but now refills are welcome as long as you still own your cups.

Thanks for explaining - I've always been a bit confused about these mugs and it's nice to know all the restaurants will re-fill them. I usually bring in a bottle of squash and a bottle of water in a cool bag for the kids mainly because drinks were so expensive as my two drink all the time in hot weather. Are there any X-men refillable mugs?

so if i wanted to find a spiderman mug, it would be by the spiderman ride or a MIB mug by the MIB ride?? i could just see me buying a mug and then finding one i like even more after!! i could always have two....

Selina- in Marvel, they have a general mug that has a topper with Hulk, Wolverine, and Spider-Man on it. That's the closest you'll get, unless they changed it.

Silverspark-Yes, that is basically how you'd have to do it. You can also check the main store in each park (Universal Studios Store or Island Trader Export) to see if they're carrying any additional mugs...

Especially to someone like me that posts a question about every little DETAIL!

Which leads me to this question....

If you buy a refillable mug, you can get it refilled even outside of the parks for the $1.34 price? (like at the restaurants on Citiwalk)

I looked all over the universal website and also IoA Central and couldn't find any pictures. I think the refills are only good at the parks, not city walk. I have refilled my MIB (from universal) at Islands of Adventure though.

Spidey is correct. I've used my refill cup at Mel's, Richter's, Oak Tavern, and the Italian place near Richter's. All of them are inside the parks.

They probably get that question fairly regularly. But I could've sworn I saw sippers in some of the non-full service restaurants. Phamton, you go to Universal nearly every weekend, could you check that out, since I don't have easy access to Citywalk? I promise I won't whip you (too bad) in MIB should I ride on your car one of these days.

Ok, here is my mug question. Can you use your cup in both Unviersal and IOA? Say if I bought a Shrek cup and then brought it to IOA. Is that OK?
