I read somewhere that someone used their mugs on other visits. Is this true, you can use mugs you might have bought 2 yrs ago? The mugs are always changing so it never accured to me to take my old mugs with me and save the extra $. Tell me is this true? Are they good forever?

Hi,

I think as long as they are from the same hotel you can use them!!! Maybe someone knows something different.

Hi Buzzro!:D
This can be one of those -ahem- *interesting* questions, with lots of answers, and opinions:D

I don't know, we're buying new mugs - they are great souvenirs:)...like Allison said, maybe someone else knows differently...

Does that help?:D :D Enjoy your trip!!

Hi Buzzro!

This question gets asked quite a bit on these boards and can be the topic of huge debate. Basically, it comes down to this:

Refillable mugs are supposed to be used for your resort only, for the duration of your stay only.

Some people have reported that they have been able to use their mug from a different resort or different stay without a problem. I have even personally had a CM tell me that my mug could be used forever back in 1996 (ASMu). However, rules have either changed since then or not all CMs were under the correct assumption.

I do think they are starting to reinforce this policy a little more. Disney is posting signs near the dispensing machines reflecting these rules.

However, if you took your old mug on your trip this time around, you could probably use it without being told not to. Do I think you are the devil's child incarnate if you use your mug at a different resort on a different vacation? No. But many others will disagree. :teeth:

Hope this helps!

When I was there in October, there was no sign at the BoardWalk Bakery stating that they were only good for one trip. I looked all around for one - but none in sight.

I have read that other places have signs, but that enforcement by the CMs varies.

And not all of the mugs have changed. The BW one is the same as 2 1/2 years ago.

On the mug I just purchased at the Boardwalk Bakery during my trip last month, it says on the side that it can be refilled during your stay right on the mug. Can't remember the exact wording, but it was something to that effect.

Last Thanksgiving I was visiting WDW for three weeks, I was staying at the Poly, just me and my 18yr. old dd. My dd went down to the snack shop to get her mug refilled and grab a snack, She decided to sit there and write out some post cards. Well long a behold a man walked up to her and started to give her a hard time! There was a New York City police officer in there as well on vacation, so he decided to get involved. Turns out security was already looking for this man, since he had cause alot of troble in their lounge upstairs. Here is how this man managed to get into the Poly. He came there on a bus from DownTown Disney, where he gotten into a very bad fight. He was so drunk. My dd said Mom, this man had blood all over him. Well the Poly ended up and called the Police and him arrested. MY dd thanked the police officer for his help. The night time hotel manager walked my dd back up to our room, and explained to me what had happened and gave us his apoligies. He then asked my dd if there where anything special that she wanted to do while in Disney. He gave us free passes to go to Pleasure Island. My dd told him she was said and just wanted to go home, because she had brought her girlfriend with us, but she got sick and had to go back home. DD said how nice it would be to be able to stay in The Contemporary with a view of the Magic Kingdom, So the next night we go to Pleasure Island, and when we got back to the Poly our room key would not work, no big deal, we head down to the front desk. Surprisde, out comes the manager and ask us if we could take a ride with him that he had a special surprise for us. Sure we said, he did explain that something had happened to our room and we would get new keys.

Off to the Contemporary we head, to the front desk, where they handed us new room keys. I could not believe it. The manager walked us to our room. The 11th. flooor tower with a view of the Castle. When they opend the door, all of our stuff was there, they moved everything, they had a cake, flower's, food, ballons, everything. We where then given a voucher to go back to the Poly to have dinner at Ohana's. I could not believe this.

Now back to the mug's,not thinking I we went down to get drinks at the Contemporary, I was using our Poly mugs, and the cast member told me that I could not use the mugs that I must buy new ones. I told her that we where moved over here by management, she then just handed us two of there mugs for free. I would say that if the mug is from the same resort i would us it.....

Wow Ms Disney!

Out of all the magical stories I've heard, that one takes the cake.

I'm gonna hunt for bloody drunk guys instead of hidden mickeys next time :)
