Refillable Mugs

I just got a new one in June and it's the red one with characters and the top and handle come in black, red, or yellow.

Thanks for the description! I couldn't remember. We have one from last summer that looks like this.

We buy and steal....we usually bring one mug and end up buying one.

Do people regularly bring their previous mugs back to the resorts the next year? I know I can do this with my water park mug (just purchase a new sticker), but what about the resorts? Wondering if it is worth packing them also?

Thank You...:)

When you buy a refillable mug it is only allowed to be used for that particular "length of stay"! :)

We buy new mugs every time we go even though we have some very old ones that were good forever. It pays for the morning coffees, and afternoon teas. We do see people use older mugs and other cups to fill their sodas up. In my opinion and it is just an opinion if people keep using the fountains the wrong way then disney will change the program and that won't be good. They make great souvengers (spelled wrong sorry). Enjoy!

It's very tempting and even easy to use your mugs from previous years, but why would you want to cheat the system? That's like asking for a water cup at a restaurant and filling it with soda. Would you do that? Buy a new mug!! Like pp said, if people continue to cheat the system, they will change it and that may mean no refillable mugs anywhere. Do your integrity a favor and buy new mugs.

I just returned from my week long trip with my 5 yr old son. I bought just one since his meals come with a drink. I would say in the week we were there I only used it twice.....so I so did not get my money's worth out of it. Now would I bring it back.....not, but I was sure wanted to hand the mug to someone and say would you like to use this for your stay.

So wait-

I can just buy a new sticker for my Water Park mug? That's awesome. How do I do that? Bring it up to a register?

I kept thinking- what on earth am I going to do as I start accumulating mugs? We're not coffee drinkers and our recycling program doesn't take them. My cabinets are full...

I wish you could just get a sticker for the resort mugs!

Sorry for being the dummy who didn't know this...

If you go to the shop you get the locker rentals and towel rentals from you can buy a new sticker. I think last october when I was there it was $6.

I think Disney should start a program like that for all the refillable mugs. It would be better for the enviroment.

Another option is to purchase a drink when you are thirsty. Especially for those who feel they don't get their money's worth out of the refillable mugs.

What about if you use the mugs for something like water or ice? I don't drink soda nor coffee anymore but have mugs from before and like the fact that they are insulated and planned on bringing them with us.

I never got an answer about this, and am still curious.

If you are just wanting water and ice, why don't you bring a reusable water bottle? They hold more than the refillable mugs, and people won't suspect that you are trying to "break the rules".

Use a sports bottle or buy new mugs & explain to your kids why your old mugs are staying home.

Have a case of water delivered to your resort so you can leave everyday with a new bottle.

I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to bring my own property to use for myself just because of what others may think. We get the QSDP every other trip so we get 4 mugs. Because of allergies, my kids can't drink anything from the fountain. When we go with the basic DDP, I'm only going to get mugs for me and DH, not my kids. They do like having mugs though for their drinks that we bring for them. I do get hot water at the coffee dispenser for their hot cocoa using their mugs (hot water comes from a dedicated part of the machine and comes out a dedicated spout making it safe). IMO this is perfectly fine. I'm only taking water. If other guests are such busy bodies that they have to get into my business about why I'm using old mugs (again, only for my kids and I'm only taking hot water) then they have far too much time on their hands and I'll gladly share our life stories (hey, they have all this time on their hands, they obviously want something to fill that time). We're talking about WATER, not drinks. We're not stealing. Water is given free all the time. Why is it anybody else's business what we hold the water in?

OP asked the question, so we answered it. Sorry if you didn't like our answers. :confused3

I was answering a couple other people's questions about using the mugs for water or ice (I was trying to be clear by quoting the posts). I'm giving a different answer than yours. I don't see why there's any reason to not be able to bring the mugs back and fill them with my own drinks that I've brought or with free things like ice or water. I thought it was unfair to tell them that the reason is merely because of what others might think. They'd be breaking no rules. What others may think of this shouldn't matter as to whether this is allowed or not. I'm sorry if you don't like my answer.

I have used my old refillable mug for ice and water before. Since the design is the same no one would/should think I was trying to cheat the system....but if they had it would not concern me. I know that I am not doing wrong and that's all that matters.

I can't be bothered to take back old mugs. We only go once a year and by then I want replacements. :lmao: I can't be bothered what other people do - I am too busy filling my mug and getting ready to head out somewhere to notice. As long as I don't have to pay for anyone else's drinks, it's all the same to me. :goodvibes

Mug threads usually turn into a debate. Sadly for the OP, the initial question is almost always completely innocent. There is a sticky at the top of the board for Resort mug questions. I see the poster in post 2 (if I recall correctly) made reference to that thread.

Everyone needs to do as they see fit. It's plenty responsibility for me to be accountable for my own decisions and actions. I am not going to volunteer to do it on anyone else's behalf any time soon. ;)

I have to ask: Do you take your own glasses to Burger King, or to Applebees? If not, what makes you think you should to a Dinsey restaurant?:confused3

If Burger King offered a refillable mug then I see nothing wrong with bringing one with me. If I have any kind of refillable mug in my car and I'm just wanting water with my meal, IMO it would be better to use than than to ask for a disposable cup for water and be wasteful.

Applebees is a table service restaurant so you're comparing apples and oranges. At WDW I don't bring my refillable mugs that I PAY FOR to TS restaurants, or even parks for that matter.
