Hi everyone!
I'm staying on-site for the first time and was wondering about the refillable mugs. Do think it is good value? What are your experiences?

thanks!

It depends how long you're staying and how much you drink.
One night/two days will cost you $6 a day, or about three drinks (most amounts rounded to nearest dollar)
Two nights/three days = $4 a day, or two drinks
Three nights/four days = $3 a day, or 1.5 drinks
Four nights/five days = $2.40 a day, or 1.20 drinks
Five nights/six days = $2 a day, or one drink
At seven days and above, the cost per day is less than the cost of a single drink.
So, if you're going to drink more each day than the above 'chart', yes, the refillable mugs are worth 'it'. AND you have the mug as a souvenir to use every day when you get home!

The biggest determining factor for me was the fact that Disney has a deal with Nestle that basically means that the coffee available for the refillable mugs is practically undrinkable. Combine that with the fact that all the moderate resorts and all the deluxe resorts now have refrigerators in each room (which you can stock with cans of soda, as you wish), I don't see a real value in the refillable mugs.

I guess it all depends on your perception of value - we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for one day last year (we were in Fla for a family event and
n added one night of MNSSHP onto our trip.) My husband went for an early morning walk and came back with a Mara mug for me - that's like one $12 cup of coffee :confused3 - but I LOVE my mug and use it nearly everyday!!!!! I think it makes a better souvenir than something that you will never use again in the real world - like Mickey Ears or something else goofy!! :hippie:

There's three of us and we always stay at the Value Resorts (until I win the lottery!). We have bought refillable mugs each year and they have been a HUGE savings to us. Grandma HAS to have her coffee several times a day (in the morning and when we come back). DS and I drink tea, water and soda when we're at WDW. So, yes, we feel its a good deal. Plus, we have a neat little cup we can bring home and use over and over again, remembering the fun we had on our trip!

Since all of the mod and deluxe resorts now have a refrigerator in them, the value of a refillable mug isn't really there. I still use my Wilderness and AKL mug everyday. I love it as a souvinier if nothing else and it's a cup that doesn't 'sweat', if you know what I mean. I love mine.

We purchase the refillable mugs on every trip. We used them so much more than I thought we would. Almost every evening, after we left the parks, DD wanted to swim. We would grab our mugs, fill them, and go to the pool. I went back and forth refilling them. Also, when the parks have late hours, we go back to the hotel for a swim, lunch and a nap mid-day. We used them then.

We use them here at home. If we are going to be outside doing yard work or letting DD play, we will select one to fill and take out with us. DD loves to decide which resort's mug she wants to drink from.

Hi everyone,

We are thinking of getting refillable mug for DH as I don't drink soda or coffee. Just wondering if it is Pepsi or Coke? DH has a preference and may not be worth it if it is not what he likes. Its DH's first time staying on property....can't wait 2 more days till we leave :Pinkbounc :bounce:

....but....

You can't get Dr. Pepper. I am a Dr. Pepper drinker, and I was so ready to get home to drink one. Mind you, I will drink Coke as well...Hey it's Disney...who's in a hurry to get home.

THis year's plan...

Bring some to ice down in the room :rotfl2:

Mugs are worth the price especially if you use travel mugs back and forth most days. As a Starbucks and Pepsi drinker, I survive on Diet Coke. To be honest the minute we hit MCO I go seaching for Starbucks then the Diet Pepsi. Life isn't life without real coffee and real soda. :rotfl:

 We need a separate board just for the refillable mug and pool hopping debates!

I think that they are worth it. I get one every year. I do not use it much during the day, unless we are spending the day at the hotel, but it comes in so handy at night. I would be paying much more if I did not have the mug.

We stayed at ASMo last Sept and bought the mugs. My DH and I filled ours at least 4 times each day, so it was definitely worth it to us. And I use my mug a work all the time, so to me it was a very useful souvenir to buy. We're going again this Sept, staying at Pop Century, and we'll definitely buy the mugs again.

15 days on my last trip; the mugs where the first thing we bought!... (and I love them as a collectable)

I think that they are worth it IMO when you are at the Value resorts. Considering that they don't have refrigorators in every room, it is a big time and money savor. Every year we buy them and they are always worth it and PLUS, as said above, they do make great souveniers. But are they covered on the dining plan? Maybe as a snack item?

I think it's definitely worth it. We stayed at Pop last year and I got the mug. Some theme parks, like Dollywood, charge you for each refill you get. Someone mentioned that there was no Dr. Pepper...that's the only thing I don't like about it. I drink so much Coke when I'm in DW that I don't want any for a long time once I get home!

I feel we got our use out of them. We used them only twice or three times a day. Breakfast, pool time, and sometimes late night snacks. We are not big soda drinkers at home so we did drink a lot more soda than normal but its vacation. It is one of the cheapest souviners you'll bring home!
