Refillable mugs worth it?

The only resorts that I don't like them at are the deluxes. It's hard to get refills since there are no true food courts. Yes, there are spots you can get refills at but it's just not as easy as it is at the values and moderates.

I'm sure this is true for most deluxes, but it's easy to refill mugs at the WL's Roaring Forks. I imagine the same is true for the Mara at AKL.

we think they are great . of course i am the diet coke one in the family.actually i am a diet pepsi freak, but its coke in disney...hahah. we usually go back to the hotel so for us its worth it.

Absolutely right!!! CR and Polynesian also have smallish food areas where you can refill...I don't know about GF. It's those darn Epcot resorts I was thinking about. Sorry for the confusion.

For us, it's not a good value. My 2 DD's don't drink soda and I make coffee in our room. I have tried it twice on previous trips and it worked out well then. Do what is right for your family.

...as far as AKL goes, it is very convenient to refill the mugs there...it's just off the pool area.....

Love 'em and they make for great souveniers, too. We've got them from every resort and we've had to pack away some!

...and ones from the Mara, I'll bet.... ;) (:scratchin...How come we've never seen you on the AKL thread??? :teeth: )

We buy new mugs every trip regardless of how long our stay is. DH uses them to take coffee to work.

For us, it's worth it to buy them. We fill up in the morning, on our afternoon break if we take one, and again at night. We carry a backpack in the parks and rent a car so there is plenty of places for us to leave them when we're done drinking.

Good luck!

We buy 3 mugs, once for each of my 2 boys and 1 for me and the hubby. My boys can drink alot of soda so it is definitely worth it. Plus they make a good cup for my mixed drinks :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Can I ask how much the mugs are?

And I assume you can only refill them at your resort. Do they have anything in the parks like this?

...they are $11.99 each, and, NO you may NOT refill them at any esort other than the one you are staying...althought I DID see some folks using THEIR Pop Century mugs at the Mara (sorry, but HOW RUDE!)....

Also, I don't know if you can still do this, but, previously, you could take ANY resort mug to a water park, and, for about five bucks, you could get a sticker [for THAT day] for unlimited refills while at that water park!

What kind of soda do they have? We are DR PEPPER freaks  I love Diet Dr Pepper and my husband drinks regular. This would only be worth it for us if they had DP.

Were staying at CBR...

At the Food & Fun Center in the Contemporary they have Pibb Xtra. It's Coca Cola's version of DR Pepper & they taste exactly the same 100%. I also think that is the only place in all of Walt Disney World that sells Pibb Xtra, because I did not see it anywhere else on property.

Hi, we are staying at pop for four nights. I see all this hooplah about refillable mugs but will we really get our money's worth? For the three days we are there we will be at the parks all day, probably only spending time at the resort in the evening and early in the morning before we leave.

What about my four year old? Do they have kid sized ones or are they all the same? I'm just not so sure I want to give him free reign at the slushie or soda machine with a huge mug, you know? Has anyone just bought one or two and shared them instead of buying one for their child?

I would just like some input on this one.

We always buy them, our last trip we bought the ones with the smaller bottom that fit in the car cup holder, we use them all the time at home.

We did not purchase these on our last trip, but will probably do so for this one. DH and I are both coffee drinkers (just one or two cups in the AM) and one of the main reason for wanting the mug is for coffee since I've discovered the values do not have coffee makers in the rooms (right?) ...

Now I have a question- is the coffee "real" or instant at Pop? We do not like instant :snooty:

We have always bought mugs when we stay at the CR, even though they look the same the past few years, I buy new ones. Anyways, if my son were 4 ? Yea we would be sharing, heck 2 years ago, my 15 yr old and I shared a mug cause we were only there a few days.
This time we stayed 6 nights and it was dead middle summer and so hot, so day 2 the mugs had paid for themselves, we bought 3 of them.
I'm sure you can share with your 4 year old.
I had read about people seeing others fill up all kinds of containers at the Allstar resorts food court.
Well I saw it at the Contemporary also, even saw a young man get in the elevator with his mug filled and a huge, I mean HUGE like 2 liter bottle full of coke.
We buy the mugs, I budget it in every time and it usually pays for itself with as much as teens drink soda!

Where did you get your last mug at? I haven't seen a mug without the 'free refills until the end of your stay' and 'refills only at location purchased' statements on them for several years now. That statement is on every single mug I have purchased in the past 3 years! It is right underneath the handle. Also, what is this about them washing your mug for you? Or giving you a clean one to replace a dirty one? There are hot water spigots at the beverage station expressly for rinsing out cups...why in heaven's name would they give you a new one to replace a dirty one?? I just don't want anyone to get some incorrect info here.
I bought my mug at the little shop right next to the Pepper Market at Coronado Springs about two weeks ago and there is nothing on it that says it can't be brought back, or used anywhere else...no little anything.

I thought that was really funny because I'm always reading about how they ALL say that. I'm here to say that they don't all say it. Which is why I think it would be really easy for people not to know, like I said. Especially since the CM didn't say anything, either.

At CSR, the guy told me they'd wash it for me (and they did - it isn't a big deal for them, if you've ever worked in a restaurant, you've seen how they slide those giant things through ) or just switch it out...which I didn't ask them to do. He might have been wrong about it (staff people have been known to be wrong before!), but that is what I was told. :)

We recently stayed at CBR and purchased 4 mugs for my husband, myself, and 2 kids. Since we were on the DDP our drinks were included in our meals, so when we ate at the resort instead of taking a cup for sodas with our meals we each took a juice or a carton of milk with our meal. Then we would use the mugs we purchased for the drinks with our meal. We would take the milk and juice with us back to our room and put them in the fridge. Then in the morning my husband and I would have our coffee and the kids could have juice or milk.
