Refillable Mugs at UN/IOA

I emailed UN/IOA about the refillable mugs. Plus they said something about a new development. I wonder what they mean? And this is the response I got back:

Can you tell me if you have refillable mugs for sodas or ice tea at Universal or Island of Adventures? Example: pay one price and get refills at a discounted price or free.
If so, how much are they & the refills and can you get them at either Universal or Island of Adventures? And are they interchangeable? Can I buy a mug at Universal and use it at IOA?


What they emailed me back saying:

Souvenier cups range in price from $4.99 - $11.99. Refills for soda are 98 cents.

Mugs are interchangeable. You can bring a T2 bottle into IOA and get a discounted refill, much like you can bring a Cat in the Hat bottle into USF and get the discounted refill as well.

The "new developments" part is just a sig line, but what Barry said is right.

The big seller now is the Sponge Bob Square Pants mug. It's huge, yellow and blue, shaped like a square sponge just like the cartoon character. Costs $12.50 and then the refills are .89 cents. Don't worry about finding one, they're at every drink stand and most restaurants in the park.

It's only on the day you buy it.
Your receipt is proof of the day. Oh well, you'll have to ask around about other deals.

the under a $1 for a refill is only for the day you bought it. Every other day you use it at US/IOA, the refill costs exactly $2.12 which isn't bad, I don't think.

Same place usually as the other mug. This one you talk about is the one I have. It is a tall blue mug with a yellow top and has a label printed around it with Spongebob and other characters from that show.

Hi sltrawick- When you buy the sponge bob mug you also get a coupon/receipt that you must show to the counter person for your .89 refill. Don't lose it! Also they don't always date the coupon. Now you can reuse it even after the day you buy it. We bought one last Jan., went for 9 days and just got back from 5 more days and we were able to use it over and over again.

I wanna know why is US and IOA selling these mugs and refills for so much? Because if you think about it the mugs at WDW are MUCH MUCH cheaper. Why are they not trying to compete with their competiors?
