A while back I read that they were going to test out using barcodes on the refillable mugs at the All-Stars (and other resorts). Did they start doing it yet? Just curious since will be going the end of December. Thanks!!!

What would be the purpose -- to make sure you hadn't brought along your old ones? :( We did that on our second trip as a moneysaver.

We saw no signs of any mug changes at ASMu over Columbus Day weekend. DH bought a mug. SInce we were there only three nights, I just bought whatever I wanted to drink. We weren't going to be at the resort enough for it to pay for me to buy one. Plus I bought orange juice/milk anyway.
The cost of the mugs did increase. It use to be $9.99 plus tax. It increased either $1 or $2 per mug.
And after the great mug debates, we were more curious as to who uses what. We saw ALL sorts of Disney mugs being refilled. No CM looked or cared that we noticed.

We inquired about the "new" mug policy when the rumors started on these boards. A call from the executive offices of WDW confirmed that it was just that, a rumor. The CM also informed us that the "official, official"(said sarcastically) policy is the mugs are good only for that visit. This is the Disney policy. However she stated that the resorts make up their own rules about it and as long as a guest has a mug, it will be filled.

I'm really glad you posted that question. I'm going in Dec, too. Thanks

we used our mugs froma previous trip and never had a problem. My mom has a CM friend who works as ASMusic, she said they feel they are not paid enough to argruw with guests over mugs, so they will not bother you if you have any mug including other resorts. COOL!

From my understanding only the Water Parks institued the bar codes.

Official Disney Policy is that mugs are for length of stay ONLY! This means you are not suppose to bring them back for future visits. Doing so is against Disney Policy. But just like other Disney Policy's this one is unenforced.
