refillable mugs and OKW

i can't remember if the DVC resorts, particularly OKW, have the refillable mugs. thanks for the help!

Yes they do have the refillable mugs. They are handy if you are spending a lot of time at the OKW pool.

I found them especially useful at Beach Club Villas.

Best to check out where you can get the refills before you purchase (unless you just want a souvenir). Could be a long walk from your villa. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool and drink a lot of soda, the refillable mugs might be a good value, though.

Refillable beverage choice is limited to soda, punch, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. No juice, no beer, no milk, no bottled water and nothing in the way of soda that isn't bottled by Coke.

IMHO, it is often better to purchase a case or two of your favorite beverage and just load up the villa fridge. Especially true if you are not a Coke product fan.

ITA, IMHO buying a 12 pack or two at about 3.00 per 12 pack is far less expensive than the initial price of the mug. The refillable program is a great deal for those who don't have the fridge. I sometimes bring my DVC mugs from YEARS ago (when the refillable mug program began and refills were not totally free but reduced in price) and use it for my own Coke.

You have to pay for the refills at OKW. The mugs are $4.95 and the refills are $1.65

The only problem I felt with this program was that if you stay at 2 or 3 different properties in one visit then you need to buy 2 or 3 mugs - total ripoff. I don't believe in stealing pop by bringing old mugs (but using them for your own pop is a great idea) but I do have a problem when my "length of stay" is 2 days, then 3 days, then 2 days making me purchase 3 different times. I just said no. My question is this - when we stay a week at one resort I will buy 1 mug for my son as I don't usually like to drink pop. Should I feel guilty if I occassionally have a couple of sips of his pop? I have no intentions of drinking a whole mug of pop and don't feel like carrying a mug around either but since it is refillable I think people may think I'm trying to scam the system.

I agree on this. It's a shame Disney doesn't have some sort of prorated system to charge based on the number of days you're at the resort (2 nights vs 10 nights etc) and if you plan on staying at 2 or 3 different resorts, have some sort of sticker system that shows you paid once and could be eligible for refills at each prospective resort. I'm sure this will never happen and because of this it's why we also bring our own canned soda/iced tea/lemonade/bottled water.

I remember the days when I bought the mug and they could be filled at any resort. And they were supposed to be free forever. Disney took that away pretty fast. I want my money back.

When we were at OKW at Thanksgiving, the mugs were decorated for "holidays" and they cost around $12 and offered free refills. We used ours a lot at the Turtle Pond Pool snack bar. It was nice not having to lug our own drinks as our room was not too close to the pool. When we went back to OKW a few weeks ago, NO refill mug was available but the CM said they would get new ones soon for the summer season. Evidently the offerings change at this resort.
