My husband is a coffee fiend. We cannot afford to buy him Starbucks for every coffee he needs in a day :P with the refillable mug are we able to put his coffee into our own stainless travel mug so that it doesn't make his mug taste like coffee when he wants soda or lemonade later and will stay warm for later in the day at the parks? As long as we have the activated mug can we just fill the other one directly or do we have to fill the plastic mug and dump?

Also how much does each soda machine dispense ? Does it dispense only enough to fill the mug or will it over flow to allow for foaming etc?

Thanks in advance !

There are mug wash stations by the drinks. The soda is going to be freestyle machine or regular soda machine with a button. You control how much you add.

As for coffee machine, I would fill up using the Disney mug and then transfer to second mug and wash out Disney mug.

As long as you have your refillable mug with you, you can put the coffee into another mug. The coffee taste/smell really does linger in those mugs so I get it...
My mom had one from our last trip in the cupboard and like 5 years later it still smells like coffee and was washed and stored since !

If you have a refillable mug, you can show it and request a paper cup at the cashier. I fill that instead of my mug. I would not recommend filling your own container at the stations both for appearance and sanitary reasons.
I did the same. When I wanted coffee, I asked the person at the location for a paper cup and it was never an issue (I had my mug with me).

I use my own mug to get coffee (and it is no different than people using a resort mug as far as sanitation goes since any mugs could have been used before and probably have been). I just have my refillable mug with me there too. You really can’t get the coffee smell/taste out of the plastic. It ruins other drinks you might get. I don’t get soda or anything else if I am having coffee so if anyone is looking it is legit.

This seems a little silly... how is my mug from home any different than the plastic disney mug when it comes to cleanliness :P I've heard that before but if anything it's more clean because he washes it in the sink in the room with dishsoap which I'm sure lots of people just Rinse the disney ones at the mug wash ... Not trying to be snarky just wondering how it's less sanitary to use the one from home? Or do you mean paper over the mugs in general for cleanliness ?

Many people think the stainless mugs many of us use clean better, less of a lingering coffee taste, then Disney's plastic mugs.

A few years ago stainless mugs were available $10 upcharge

You may already know this but the refillable mugs only work for the hotel and not in the parks.

I recommended getting a paper cup from a CM, filling that and transferring.

That works but then they would be throwing away so many cups - at the very least 14 cups for a 7 day visit and that's only for morning coffee. I'm not sure but I also don't think the Disney coffee cups are 100% paper either. They seem to have something else in there, like a styrofoam.

I have a few that still smell like coffee too  Honestly, the CMs are VERY understanding when it comes to personal quirks. I have a few where I need to ask for an accommodation when ordering food and they're really nice about it. You can always ask. I doubt they will have an issue with it.

I bring a paper coffee cup from the resort room when I get coffee from the food court. I also bring the refillable mug to show that I have it.

Soda machines do not have automatic dispensers. You hold down the button when filling. :) You can stop the flow to let the bubbles die down, and then continue to fill.

I bring a sponge with dish soap on it and wash my refillable mug out every night. Works like a charm. And if I choose to have something else in it, then I wash it midday.

Absolutely fine, though you do not get the refills in the parks. You do at the resorts.

That is a great tip. I saw Samantha Brown on Instagram and she does this. She takes a sponge and adds dish soap to it then lets it dry out. Then she cuts it in small squares, puts them in a ziploc bag, to use in her hotel room!
