I’m very torn on the need for refillable mugs for our kids. For my husband and I they are worth it just for the daily coffee. Trying to determine if the kids will get the money’s worth. Can we fill them with apple or orange juice at breakfast time?

no apple or orange juice. Depends on resort but there is usually lemonade, Powerade and Hi C.

If you plan on a lot of time at resorts and at the pool then maybe. Otherwise if you're doing parks for the most part then no.

I did the Dining Plan last year and we hardly ever used ours and we had resort day.

last time we only got 2 mugs, we got our coffee every morning and the kids will get soda every evening. On the days we ate at the hotel we easily share amongst us. We are not big soda drinkers but it was worth having them.

It's basically soda. Even the lemonade is just HFCS "lemonade" (or lite lemonade with artificial sweeteners). If the kids drink enough of that to make the mug worth it for them, then get it. If they don't, don't. My son doesn't get a mug. I do for coffee depending on the trip's length and plans.

We rarely purcahse the mugs and when we do, we buy 2 and share. I hate coffee and DW only likes specialty coffees's so the mugs do not help there and we try not to over do it on soda. The other issue we have, is that we do not want to drag them to the parks during the day.

We got them. We all got tired of soda and put water in them as well. Even though we bought bottles of water for the parks we didn’t have enough for pool days.

The water at the BC was better then the Poly!

My kids liked the coke machines at the BC marketplace better since there was a better selection. Oldest dd liked the flavor water.

So unless you don’t mind the tap water or spending $3 on water then don’t bother.

My DD can probably drink her weight in hot chocolate, lol. We also both drink iced tea (I think they have a decent selection of iced tea). I drink coffee in the morning. We both got a mug and I felt we got our money’s worth, even though we rarely drink soda anyway. Sometimes it was hard to make the hike over to the food court (we stayed at POR), but we did it a couple of times a day. We do spend time at the resort daily, more than just to sleep.

Besides breakfast time, when else do you plan on dining at your resort? Are you or DH ok with sharing a drink that your family thinks it appropriate for the kids to drink or do each of the adults have to have there own favorite beverage that you wouldn't let the kids drink? Kids meals do come with a drink if you go that route.

Last trip, we got two mugs for the grown ups. My DH has a serious coke zero addiction and I need my morning coffee (the dining hall coffee is so much better than what you can brew in room, especially if you drink it black.) I made the mistake of choosing lemonade one night and letting the kids take a sip after they finished their milk but were still thirsty. From that night on, it was all lemonade all the time.

No milk or juice with the refillable mugs!

We usually share 2 mugs for the 3 of us, in the morning I need coffee and my youngest likes hot coco so we use the mugs and purchase a milk or juice for my older dd.

Then when we are at the resort for pool breaks or early evenings the kids get a fountain drink in the mugs while I have a cold water (or beer!) :0

If you can figure out a way to share that may be the way to go!
