Okay, some stupid questions-
Can someone give me the lowdown on the refillable mugs. I haven't stayed onsite so don't know how they work. I will be at the Poly so that means I can purchase a mug at Cpt. Cooks? When I first purchase it do can I fill it right there and go pay for it or have to purchase the mug first and then go use it. Once you have the mug and go back are you able to refill it and go on your way or do you have to wait it line and show them you refilled it? (I plan on using it for my coffee and the less human interaction I have before I drink my coffee the better)
Thanks in advance!

The mugs are on racks usually close to the checkout. You pay for the mug and they cut the tag off it and then you are free to use it. You never have to ask after that or anything you just go up and fill and refill as you want, with anything that they have....coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pop, lemonade, whatever they have.
So, you only need to interact for the first buy!!:rotfl:

mollyseven explained it very well.

Basically, after you grab your mug and pay for it, the cast members never need to see it again. The refillable mugs are one of the easist things to use at Disney!

There is a rinse station by the soda fountain but I've only seen water. We brought a small container of dish soap to wash the mugs in our room.

I know you can refill the mugs 24 hours a day at Captain Cook's but I'm not sure about other resorts. I remember that All Star Sports quick service area (where you refill mugs) closed at midnight. I didn't think you could refill there until it opened in the morning - but I could be wrong.

We used them for coffee in the morning - nice walk instead of making coffee in the room and ice tea or sodas late at night. There is a flavored ice tea dispenser I thought was very good.

For $13 each mug (or included with some dining plans), I thought it was a good deal and we use our mugs every day at home to take coffee for our commute to work.

The mugs are a great. There are two shapes, a wide one and a taller, slimmer one. I have bought both and found the taller one was the better shape because it can fit in cup holders in your car.

We fill them in the mornings with breakfast, on our way out for day and just before we head back to the room for the evening. We rinse them at the park and throw them in our backpack. Sometimes we'll take them out and use them at the water fountains if it is a really warm day. They are also handy at home since DH makes his own coffee in the morning and takes it with him in the mornings.

how many ounces do the mugs hold?

In the past, there were two mug styles: one was tall and skinny with a smaller base that fit in most vehicle cup-holders and the other was a tad shorter but much squattier and appeared bigger. They both held the same amount (14oz). At the present, there is only one style mug. It is a bit taller than the previous mugs were and about the as big "around" as the bottom of the old "cup-holder" shaped mugs.

What drinks are available at the Poly to fill them with? Thanks!
Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Barq's and some other sodas however I forget which brands they are. Besides that there is also Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate which also available with the mugs.

Fountain Drinks - Coke, Diet Coke, Root Beer, Sprite, Lemonade or Iced Tea
Hot Drinks - Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate

Sure would be nice if you could fill them up with Pina Colada's :rotfl2:

Thank you! I think we're definately going to invest in these this year as well. We haven't in years past but, $2+ for a pop adds up fast.

The washing stations normally ae just water to rinse.

I've seen people suggest getting a sponge and cutting it into small cubes, and soaking them with dishwashing liquid at home before you leave. Let the dish liquid dry in there, then put it in a ziploc bag. Just wet it when you are ready, and you have a soapy sponge to properly clean your sticky mugs.

What a great idea!! TFS

So I assume you can refill these mugs at ANY resort you visit, not necessarily just the one you are staying at??

from what I am reading it is only at the resort you are staying at - although I am not really sure how they enforce this? Does anyone have the correct info?

I just got my mugs at the end of January and the current wording on them is:

Refills available at no additional charge at Resort Beverage Islands located in the resort that this mug was purchased through the end of your stay.

So, per Disney's guidelines, they are intended to be used only at your resort.

Do you know if the mug has changed since last Oct. , will be going end of April and need new styles for our collection.
