"Walt Disney World Resorts refillable mugs are now $13.99 plus tax. These mugs can be purchased in the food court of most resorts and can be filled as many times as you like for the duration of your stay."

What was the previous price?
My vacation time is long enough that I will purchase the mug. But for people taking the average five night vacation, is the mug getting too expensive?

I wish the price would increase at a "sensible" time, like January first. But, no! Raise the price just before Thanksgiving, Chanukah, and Christmas holidays. It is the Disney way, no?

It was $12.99.

I love travel mugs - if I really like the new design when they change the mugs, I buy a new one. I also bring my old mug back (the design still matches and Lee Cockrell told me I could) for a few trips. I always see someone with a 10 year old mug wandering the food court. :cutie:

That would have been me last year at DAP. I brought the mug I bought at the Contemporary in 1997/98. ;)

Considering the cost of soda now in grocery stores, resteraunts, etc. Idon't think a $1 increase is unreasonable as long as you you will drink at least enough to cover the cost.

At home I would need to drink 6 soda's to cover the $13.00

6 for $13? Wow, thats why I drink water when I go out.

I bought original mugs from Port Orleans back in the day, but I never brought them back to other resorts, only return visits to Port Orleans/Dixie Landings. I even bought the All Star Music mug just because it was "against the rules" (snort!) to bring a mug from a different resort.

Nowadays, any container for anyone will do. :rotfl2:

I still think soft drinks are one of the biggest money makers for Disney. Not only are fountain drinks cheaper to produce, how much do you wanna bet that Coke, being the sponsor they've been for a bazillion years, provides the syrup at a deep discount or free? Hmm...

The mugs were a decent value when they were around $10. Now? Nope. I stopped buying mugs even before Disney made them generic.

Has the design changed from last year? Do they have the ones that are skinny at the bottom? I'm going at the end of the month...

I remember hearing that Disney gets the soda for free from coke. That's crazy profit! Will I get new ones? Yup.

Yeah, I bought the ones from last year and they had a red background with the Fab 5 characters and Celebrate Today written on them.

When I read this thread I went to the cupboard and dug out the sets of mugs. Fat bottom, skinny bottom, All-Stars, POP Century, we've got probably eight pairs of different mugs.

I'd like to think that they were different this year so we don't get duplicates. Does anyone know what the mugs are like now? We are leaving in 11 days and I'm in full planning and obsession mode.

I hope someone who has visited recently chimes in.
My guess, it is the last of the Celebrate mugs to end the Year of Celebration.

My mug is from December 2008. It is blue. I always thought it looked to wintery. I kind of want the red one.

Maybe I will see you? I will be down there in 14 days.:goodvibes

It is still the red mugs. I bet when they run out they will start selling a new version. No idea when that will be.

We've got the blue ones too. Got them in September (when we ususally travel) and thought they looked too wintery!

We will be there from Dec 1st till 11th, staying at POP. Hey I just realized that I can do on-line checkin today! :yay:

Thanks Kathy. I was hoping for something new for my ever-expanding collection.

I actually do hope they change them by Feb. I already have the red ones and the stingy part of me always thinks 'I should have just bought the old ones' when I see the one I'm buying is the same as the one at home.

I don't bring my old ones mind, but I have been sorely tempted given Disney's prices... :)
