I was trying to remember, it has been a while since we stayed at the Fort, does this resort campsite also have the refillable mugs like some of the other resorts do?

they sure do. You get refills of all drinks at Trails End, but only while they are open (and they don't open til 7:30). You can get coffee and hot tea at Meadows Trading Post.

We've been multiple times to FW, and never purchased the mug there. Just not convenient to use.

For those who do use the mugs, you will be happy to know that the soft drink refills at Trail's End are now SELF SERVE! No more waiting for a cast member to refill your mug for soft drinks!

Woo-hoo! That's great news! It took so long during busy hours, and we always felt guilty, like we were bothering them!

We stayed there 8 weeks over the summer, bothering them? By the time we left, they knew all of my kids by their names! :rotfl2: Those refillable mugs saved me a ton of money!

Well, I guess that explains why they turned the soda machine around so it became self serve. ;)

Too bad they dont sell refillable plates :teeth:
The stock would crash just because of the fried chicken I could eat

I never thought of it that way! I wonder if they found I that I booked for 8 weeks again this summer? :teeth: Now, all I have to do is decide if I should purchase new mugs or let them use their old ones! :rotfl2:
Just kidding, I will be buying new ones.

I am happy to hear this. I wonder when they made the change. I only get one for my DS, he loves to run in to get a drink by himself(at 10 its a big deal ;) Any who it will make him happy next trip.

Not sure when the change was made exactly, all I can say is that when we were there in April 05 you still had to get the CM to fill your mug. When we were there this October, the fountain was turned facing the outside of the counter and it was self serve. You still had to ask for coffee and iced tea, though, although the coffee pot was just behind the soda fountain. Maybe our next trip they'll have a coffee machine like the Meadows.

FINALLY!!! We sometimes thought we were going to get kicked out for getting so many refills. And yes, they knew us by name or a nickname. (One of my sons was Spriteboy, because he was the only one who didn't get Coke or Cherry Coke. Josie and Paulette always called my daughter MISS Molly, too.) We have stayed for 4 weeks in the summer, but 8 weeks would be wonderful. If you don't mind me asking, how are you able to do that with work and finances? I think we'll be able to go this summer, so I hope there are some discounts in July and August.

I don't mind answering. I am a SAHM. There was a time when we had 5 kids ages 6 and under so daycare was not an option. My husband is a licensed contractor and makes a fairly good living. We follow the Dave Ramsey rule...pay cash for everything! We owe on our mortgage only. I usually put up so much money a month towards our summer trips. Wait, I do have a Disney visa, but pay it in full every month just so I can get the reward dollars.

The way it works for us is that hubby takes the camper down there on day one. On day 2, I come down in the suburban (with the kids) and our golf cart. We usually eat meals at the camper and we have annual passes. We play in the campground during the day and when the sun goes down, take advantage of the EMH for each park for each day. Hubby will travel back and forth every other weekend (7 hours not towing the camper). My parents will usually come down in their motorhome and spend about 3 to 4 weeks with us and my best friend, her husband and their kids will bring their camper down for 2 weeks. I think last summer, I ended up spending 5 nights their with just me and kids. I have extended invites to my other friends to come down and stay in the camper with us, but no one has taken me up on it. I do have a few that plan to go down next summer and spend time with us. It is great fun and I look forward to it every summer.

Similar situation for me. I am a teacher and have the summers off. Hubby usually drives down one way with us and the popup, stays 2 weeks and flies back. Then he flies down again in a couple of weeks for a long weekend and we all drive home. I also put away money each month and have bought annual passes. Each year we seem to spend more time in the campground and less in the parks. I need to relax after spending the last nine months with junior high kids!

I don't know if they'll even let us use our mugs from last time because DH has used them all the time for his morning coffee and other drinks...
He ALWAYS has one in his hand. :drinking1
He calls them his "to-go" mugs and tends to leave them on the floorboard of his truck and carry them all in at once for me to wash when he cleans the truck out.
Needless to say, most of them are terribly scratched up and you can hardly see the pictures on them!

This is not correct. FW and WL are two separate resorts, with two separate refillable mugs. If you check the sign by the refillable mug areas, you will see that the only mugs refillable at the resort are the ones for that resort.

I don't think the cast member's know their own rules. I asked if I could get hot chocolate one night and was told that I had to take my mug to Wilderness Lodge for hot chocolate! :confused3 It's much faster to load all five kids on the cart and go back to the camper to make my own. :rotfl2: I, too, was told our mugs were good at WL, but never tried. I will be down there next week and will go to WL to look at the decorations, maybe will take my mug and try?

The last time DW and I stayed at WL, we saw all kinds of mugs form all kinds of resorts being refilled there. It happened and no one said anything, but it wasn't right. The best thing I saw was a guy who had the nerve to come in and fill an empty bread bag at the soft drink fountain at Roaring Forks. I can't imagine he made it back to the room, but if he did, I wonder how he poured the soda out of it.
