Refillable beer mugs... now plastic?

It was mentined by someone on the cruise this week that the refillable beer mugs on DCL for $9.99 are now plastic. Can any of the recent cruisers confirm this? And are the DCL or ESPN mugs these days. I'm curious if we'll be able to complete a set this year.

why would they have ESPN Mugs? I don't think they would anymore since it's not on the ship

They still had the ESPN mugs back in Nov two years after the ESPN lounge was gone. I assume they are still working on getting rid of their supply. I prefer the DCL mugs and went looking specifically for one to purchase last year. But I would order a drink and have it returned to me in an ESPN mug. I guess they keep your mug and refill in a clean one (at least that's what I was hoping and I wasn't getting someones dirty mug). We started asking the CM's to make sure our DCL was returned so we would have DCL mugs to take home.

The OP also mentioned it needed verification whether or not they were refilled for free.....is it free? or how much is it to refill? Can you refill with anything on tap?

The mug itself cost $9.99 and you get to take it home with you. It is refillable but you are charged for the refill. The perk is that you will be charged for a 12oz but get a 16oz drink. The only problem with this is that you have to lug that glass mug around with you everywhere you go to get the deal. One of my favorite memories of the cruise is the men in the breakfast buffet line with their beer mugs in hand.

I think there way of getting rid of the ESPN mugs is to return them to you when you get a refill..That happened to us...when we cruised in Sept. DH picked the DCL mug...but got a ESPN mug when he refilled...of course the CM said we could trade the ESPN one in at the end of the cruise...if that's what we ended up with...As it was...we were running SOOOO far behind on packing our things on Friday night after CC...that I packed the ESPN mug..and didn't realize we didn't trade it in for the DCL mug So now were stuck with an old ESPN mug...when they didn't even have the sky box on the ship when we cruised...it would be one thing if they actually had it on the ship... I hope they didn't change to plastic mugs...DH is wanting to get that DCL glass beer mug in October 05

DH bought the glass beer mug, and we took the DCL mug home. He definitely got his money's worth out of it. Of course, every morning when we were packing our bag to leave our room for the day, DH had to make sure the beer mug was going with us. I started making him carry the bag, that beer mug sure was heavy!

They have the glass beer mugs that say Disney Cruise lines. My two nephews brought them everywhere and got their money's worth. I finally got one - nephew bought it and think I may have gotten my money;s worth too. LOL Is heavy but now here in NJ.
