HAs Disney changed the mugs yet
I am going in April and want to bring my mugs from the 2008 trips.

Have they changed them yet???

It depends on the resort. They are selling out what stock they have left of the 2008 mugs first, before they put out the new ones. Which resort are you staying in?

Not to be a stickler, but aren't the mugs only supposed to be used during the trip on which they were originally purchased?

The rule is that the mugs are only good for your length of stay. I believe it's stated right above the beverage bar at Pop Century. However I saw many people using mugs from 5 or 6 years ago. So I am unsure if it is an enforced rule or not.

I have seen people at WL use mugs from years ago (the old shorter WL design) and the CM at the register didn't bat an eye!
As for me, I want the new one!!

I just posted something in the Budget Board that sort of is on a similar thought-thread, but... doesn't that seem wrong? To keep reusing mugs beyond the original trip they were purchased for? People complain -- or rationalize, depending on your viewpoint -- that Disney costs so much, but then they chip away at the profit margin, not really realizing (or, perhaps, caring) that those costs are going to come from somewhere. I'm not accusing or anything, I'm just curious and love a good debate/conversation. I can't help feeling that rationalizing "well, they make a ton of money off me as it is" isn't really a valid justification. That's like saying "they charge a lot for bread at the grocery store, so I'm gonna steal butter to make up for it."

Is there anyone else out there who could care less which mugs people bring?
  But I would want a new one too.

i personally don't care either..however the way i see it, if i can spend $4000 for a 11 night stay with 4-5 ppl in a moderate resort an extra 12 bucks wont kill me! And i get the new mug to remind me of all the fun times i had

I recently stayed at POP and the day I left (02/11/09), they had new mugs on the shelves. I wish they would have been there at the beginning at my stay, I bought the same one I already have.

As far as refilling mugs from prior years, I guess you can do what you want but I consider that stealing. Everyone has a different way they look at it but if the sign says it is only for your length of saty during this visit that that is the rules. I feel it is a pretty poor example for parents who allow this to happen when they are with their kids. It is like the parents who allow their kids to cut in lines and condone it. I even saw a lady hop the exit gate with her kids to take cuts to get on the farry to the transportation and ticket center after wishes. At least I will teach my children how to follow rules even though it will cast me $12.95.

Finally there does not appear to be any enforcement of what you can refill. I saw people filling anything they can with soda and frozen Coke. You mine as well bring the garbage can from your room and fill it with Coke because apparently no one there will say anything.

We were at All Star Sports on the day they switched to the new mugs.(Feb 9) We ate at the food court at 7pm and the blue YOAMD mugs were for sale. Came back at 9pm looking for dessert and the new red mugs were out, all the YOAMD ones were gone. So both styles were in use (legitimately) throughout last week at ASSP. ASMo had also put out the new design.

I agree, if the cost of the mug is too much, should you be going at all? How can you afford to go? I budget the mugs as a part of the cost of the trip because it is WDW policy that the mugs are only for the visit you bought them on. My kids love having the mugs after we return home.

I do miss the old fatter cups even though they dont fit in my cup-holder!

Personally, I don't care either way. I'd rather have a brand new mug, and this year we're going to CSR and I can't wait to have a Pepper Market mug! Although the new mugs are REALLY cute...

Was there ever a time where it was acceptable to bring mugs back from a previous trip? My dad swears up and down that when we went two times within a year, he bought the first mugs and they told him to bring them back whenever he came to Disney for free refills... but he's getting up there and his memory isn't quite as clear as it used to be, so I don't know if I believe him. However, we were the family that used old mugs, back in 1999, so I apologize for our error.

My dad, cheapskate that he is, is insisting on having DH and I bring the nasty old mugs from 1998 to the resort... :rotfl: Thanks Dad, I'll spend $26 for some clean cups and I won't get nasty looks this way!

I'll probably :sad2: when I do see someone use an old mug.

I care enough to spend $12 on a new one. But if I use it 2 times a day on average for 15 days, I am well getting my money's worth.

I agree, if you cannot afford $12...... should you be spending thousands? :confused3

My thought is that Disney doesn't pay for the products so I'm not sure how much credence I put in their refil policy, expecially when they don't enforce it themselves. The coke a cola company puts it's products in Disney for free to promote it's brand. If you spend 12.95 for a refillable mug or buy a paper cup, that's all your paying for, since Disney actually has never paid for the liquid. I figure they can sell you a cup but they actually don't have a say in how you fill it since they don't own the product. They would prefer that you buy new cups every time you visit since it's almost pure profit, but since they pay nothing for it, they never say anything about people refilling old cups because they're not losing anything THEY DON'T CARE. If a Coke representative wants to say you can't refil certain cups then they have that right.

I did not buy a refillable, I bought two cokes while there and I paid for both of the paper cups they came in. However if I did buy a refillable cup I would use that cup as long as they were current with out any guilt. I would not consider it stealing nor would I consider it breaking the rules. Now that the new cups are out, if I had a blue YOMD cup I would consider it not current, and that is where I personally draw the line in the coke product debate.:rotfl:

But as far as I'm concerned anyone with a mug from any year is not doing anything wrong. Filling up non Disney purchased containers, that would be wrong. But only because I think it's something a trashy person would do. But that's just me.

re..using old mugs...............those of you that have no sin cast the first stone.....
