Can anyone fill me in on the DVC referal reward policy?
We've been told that due to the state we live in (Indiana) that we cannot receive anything for referals
that end in a DVC purchase. Does DVC even give anything for referals anymore?
We're always talking up DVC to all our friends/aquaintances that are interested in listening.
Three families have purchased an interest in DVC by
basically listening to our experiences. We took one family with us to OKW for a week. They were somewhat interested in DVC before the trip, but as soon as they walked into the 2-bedroom we had, they ended up purchasing by the end of the week!
I don't want to come across as greedy, but a little "something, something" would be nice, even a modest gift certificate to a WDW restaurant or something would be great (total conciousness on my deathbed, maybe).:p

Your friend has to give your name during their first contact with DVC in order to qualify for the referral. The rewards are fairly substantial....I think in the area of $200 Disney dollars. My state also doesn't permit the rewards so I'm not sure of the details.

DVC is restricted by the laws in each state regarding referral incentives. Indiana, in it's ultimate desire to protect us (I'm in Lafayette) from unscrupulous companies like Disney  , does not allow any referral reward.

We'll just have to live with satisfaction of helping friends and family enjoy DVC! :)

Howdy Neighbor! Welcome to the boards. It is dissapointing that Indiana "protects" us from Disney rewards. It does however also help with a lot of the more unscrupulous time shares. And the no-call list is great! I did get a nice letter for my referral thanking me but explaining that incentives were not legal in my state.

1) Several states have anti-referral laws.
2) Actually, it is a good practice.
3) There are high-pressure folks who prey on referrals.
4) The prospective feels guilty by not allowing the referral.
5) Once in the door, high pressure goes to work.
6) Frequently people were pressured into buying.

7) Timeshares are affected, the typical causes were
. . . encyclopedias
. . . land (remember the orange grove investments)
. . . vacuum cleaners (one of the most abused referrals)
. . . insurance
. . . other door-to-door sales

PS - I was on a city council when we enacted an anti-referral ordinance for the instances listed above.
