Referal in person...

I am heading down in December and will be taking my Aunt with the kids and I, as my hubby recently left us... She has been interested in buying DVC ever since we did 2 years ago, and is excited to stay and experience it for herself. She mentioned she wanted to do a tour while we were there, and since we are staying at SSR it will convenient to do so.

Question is, if my Aunt buys while there, when I take her in and introduce her to my guide... Will I get a referral perk for doing so? She is likely to buy anywhere from 500-750 points and wouldn't be financing, so it would be a great sale for my guide... And a little bonus GC or something of the like sure would be a nice "extra" in my new "single parent status"...but does this type of thing happen? I know that there are referral bonus incentives in place for some states, but as a Canadian from Alberta they don't apply... But what if I'm there in person when she signs on the bottom line?

The law is the law, it doesn't matter if you are in person or not.

Have you discussed resale with your Aunt? Since she is paying cash, she could save several thousand dollars depending on where she wants to buy.

Thanks Bill... I thought as much, but thought they may throw a small GC towards me or even offer some fast passes to me even though theoretically I wouldn't be the one taking the tour, but I guess that's likely not to happen.

We did two out of three of our contracts resale, and I shared with her how it all happened, she said at the time that it seemed to much work, and she'd rather just buy it straight from Disney...even with the price difference, but it's worth bringing up again... For sure! But she's more of a see it/ want it NOW kind of lady haha, so I don't know if she'd have the patience for resale!!

Disney would never take that risk. "Throwing a small GC" your way would not be legal. I'm betting if you go in and introduce her to your guide though, that he might manage a few of those special fastpasses!

I agree, but depending on your Guide, you might need to twist a arm or two.

I wanted to say I appreciate everyone's suggestions and feedback. I have received NUMEROUS PM's since my post last night offering their name to use for my Aunt's potential purchase... but this is not necessary. Thank you anyway.

I dont NEED a reward for sharing the magic of DVC with my Aunt... the fact it means she will enjoy membership as much as we have over the years is reward enough... I simply wondered if there were any perk (Even the icecream is a nice treat! HAHA)... so for those that are inclined to send me a PM offering their name and willing to give me a "share" of the referal bonus, thank you... but I would rather reccomend our own guide as she has been GREAT to us; and leave it at that. I realize it seems to some like I am allowing Disney money to go unused with the potential of such a large contract being purchased with no referal bonus being handed out to someone (Since it would be quite substantial based on the number of points she would be looking at)... but it doesnt seem right to me. Sorry!

We are looking forward to our visit in December, and showing my Aunt around DVC. If she buys... super... and if I get a scoop of Tiger ice cream out of the deal, that sounds good enough to me!
