Reductions--ladies only ( sorry guys )

Yes, they will look a lot better. Instead of them pointing south they point straight out!!! They are nice and round and have a firmness that I don't think I ever knew about!! I still have sensation, even though one may "react" and the other doesn't. We think it's kind of funny when they do that. They react more now than ever before. Maybe cause they were so big and I never could see underneath??? I am telling you to get it done. If insurance will pick up the biggest portion go for it!!! You will not regret it.

Mine was in Jan 03 and we went to WDW in March. You cannot believe how awesome it was to go buy a bathing suit off the rack at the store! I had so much fun I bought 2!! DH liked both, so I kept both...$140 later! I used to get my suits made, due to my upper size. NO more of that garbage!!

I'm not worried about sensation to much because I have barely any now, I think it is due to them being so big. I've heard this happens to big girls. So I'm used to it.

A bite or a pinch will be felt! There is less to grab, remember?

Thanks for starting this thread you guys. I'm going to have my 27 y/o dd read it. She has been huge since high school but has been really afraid to do anything about the 'situation'. This should give her some motivation. Is there anyone out there that has used a PS in the Worcester, Ma area?? If so, could you pm me with any info? Thanks.

Good morning everyone. I had a BR in Nov. 2003. Insurance (Oxford) covered it without any questions asked. I had supporting letters from my PS and an orthopedist.

My procedure was done in the ambulatory area of the hospital. I went home the very same day. Unfortunately I did get very sick from the anesthesia even though they gave me all the drugs that are supposed to prevent it. However, this was a small price to pay.

I am very happy that I did the procedure. I did have a slight complication. The stitch line under my right breast started to blister 2 months after the surgery. The doctor thought that I was spitting out the internal stitches. It happened a couple of times and left holes under my breast. I had a revision done last month to get rid of the holes. Another small blister appeared last week but fortunately it did not leave a hole. Since the PS didn't use internal stitches, he doesn't know why this is happening. The worst part about it is that it gets very itchy and it's not exactly an area that you want to scratch in public! LOL!!!

Aside from that, I am very happy with my results. I can finally pass the Ann Landers pencil test. Never thought I'd see the day!

If anybody has any questions, please feel free to pm me.

Thanks everyone , I have checked credentials and got referrals on my Dr. It will be done in the office around 8:30 on a Friday morning and then will take few hours and my mom can take me home then the following day Saturday i will have to go back in to have the drains removed.. I am looking forward to not having to wear underwires and breathing normally and actually being able to run with my kids ( after recovering ! ) I only hope that it doesn't have too much effect on my bowling game ( it starts Sept 15 surgery is Aug 6 ) Oh well I will just make adjustments. MIchelle

Barb --- even when I do lose weight its never ever there !!! and to those who asked about losing I am 5 foot even and weight 185 ( have varied between 180-190 for the last 4 yrs ) they did not say I had to lose anything - altho i am currently trying

For the few times when I have lost a significant amount of weight, I NEVER lost it there. People told me that if I breast-fed my kids they would get smaller. That is a crock of beans!! They seemed to get bigger. The surgery brought me from a 42 to a 40. That may go down if I pursue more weight loss. I am not counting on it, though!

I have had many conversations with DH about this. I am 5'3, 130 lbs & while not huge, I am a D cup, well one is a D the other more of a C - they did that after breastfeeding. I have heard they get smaller after breastfeeding, they did after my first child down to a b/c, but after baby #2 they went NOWHERE!!! I have a hard time finding swimsuits & bras. I prefer a bra with a bit of padding so in restaurants & grocery stores, everyone doesn't know how cold you are, but with D size they don't come like that or if they do you end up looking like an F cup. I feel like I look a lot heavier than I am because of my chest - top heavy. My friends think I'm crazy to want this, but I would love to be a b/c or just have my one "D" match the one closer to a "C" . I'm lop-sided & it shows in a swimsuit, does insurance cover just 1???

Your best bet would be to consult with a plastic surgeon. I know they do do that kind of stuff. Just remember you want to be proportionate to the rest of your body. BTW...Victorias Secret has a wonderful line of bras..Body by Victoria. They have just came out with a new one--lined. I prefer the unlined ones, jsut because they are thinner and don't make me look any bigger than I already am. Check it out on their website. I believe they are around $36.

I had this surgery in April of 2000. It was the best thing I have ever done. I can't say enough good things about it.
Everytime I go to a doctor that has to see my scars, they always comment on what a good job the surgeon did. I scar badly and you can barely see the scars.
I stayed 1 night in the hospital and didn't even take anything for pain except Tylenol for a headache the next day. I did take Percocet for a few days after the surgery.
It takes quite a while for everything to settle into place but it is so worth it.
Congratulations!

I had my surgery 8 years ago. Went from a 40 G :earseek: to a 38 C. Best thing I ever did for myself. Only downside was a mild depression I went through immediately after the surgery. It lasted about a week, where I just sat in my DH's recliner and barely moved. My surgeon told me that was not altogether uncommon, so... My insurance paid for it, but I had to see several doctors for various opinions and gets letters written to the insurance company from each of them, but it was worth it!

I had to share this all with you. The guy that always fitted me for my bras...he died yesterday!

It is such a bummer. He was a wizard at what he did and he always had the best bras in my size! I am really going to miss him. What a bummer!

Mine did use internal stitches and every so often one will surface. They also have migrated to other parts of my body and have "blistered" and come out.......kind of yucky but still a small price to pay I suppose.
Glad to know I'm not the only one that "spit stitches"...the exact wording my doctor used to describe what was happening to me! LOL :p

onecoolmama -- sorry about your bra maker ..

My dad is down visiting and he says " So what's this I hear about a a um ah your having a Reduction ??" I almost died -- who wants to discuss that with your dad ( not to mention in front of my grandmother ) He really just wanted to know who was paying-- he is glad for me--especially since insurance is picking up the tab and i get full pay on STD..

Oh I hear you! My folks came to sit with hubby while I had my surgery and yeah, it was slightly embarrassing to talk about some of this in front of my dad.

Was nice that he was concerned...although 18 or so years ago, I was in the hospital for 5 days and it was considered BIG surgery. Women are getting going home so quick now and it's *almost* not a big deal. (but it is, don't kid yourself!)

I wish you all the best. This has been a great thread....really neat to see so many other women who've made this choice! :wave2:

Funny my gram was like why ?? now she is a shorter bigger lady with big melons as well and I was like WHY ??? I have had such neck and upper/mid back aches for a long time carrying these things around -- then my dad took the dog for a short walk guess the "lady issues" were getting too much --- but he brought it up.. Oh well.. Maybe when he see how much more active i can be with the kids he will get the whole picture .

I have a story about this (OT)! I announced that I was pregnant with my second on Christmas Eve at the big family party we have every year.

Well, everyone was soo excited...but my uncle who is extremely money conscience...sat me down and ask me about the contraceptives I use and why they werent working!

I mean I had no idea what to say! It was the most bizarre conversation EVER! I tried to make him feel more uncomfortiable by going into some detail..but he wouldnt drop it! LOL! Very uncomfortable to be in that situation!!!

maybe its the "older" generation men !! LOL funny story

I have talked about it with Dh and he says he will be sad to see "the twins" go. We have no children, yet. That is the only reason I am hesitating. Has anyone had children after BR...were you able to breats feed?

If you read through two people had. One said that her berasts didnt get any bigger but she could not breast feed and the other said that her breasts went back to the same size before the reduction!!!

I dont think you can breastfeed at all, but there is a possiblity that if you have kids..they will get big again!

Just so you know.
