reducing duration of stay - do I keep my rate?

If I have a reservation (on a room only discount) and need to reduce my stay, does it keep the discount rate and just drops days.. or do I only get the rate at the reduced duration if there are still rooms available at the rate?

You can't just drop dates - your new dates have to be avail as if making a new reservation although some have reported speaking to guest services who may be able to assist better

Room rates are only guaranteed so long as no changes are made to your reservation. As per WDW terms and conditions:

CHANGES TO RESERVATIONS: Changes to a reservation, including but not limited to travel dates, length of stay or hotel accommodations, are subject to availability when the change is made and the guest is responsible for paying any increase in price resulting from the change.

ROOM RATES: Confirmed room rates are guaranteed as long as your reservation is not changed (except for changes in tax rates or other governmental charges).

I had to shorten a stay by a day because our plans changed. The CM told me she couldn't find a stay at the same rate (which I knew from checking online) and would be sending this to someone above. She said an email response would come in 48 hours. The changes were made and email sent within the 2 hours. My rate remained the same. It could be our reason (flights changed to coincide coming in with daughter's conference group), but definitely worth a shot to call.

It never hurts to try. I needed to reduce the number of nights on my December reservation and was not able to book the same room category. It was still less expensive to upgrade the category and drop the weekend, but I did lose my standard rate.
