When checking rates on the DCL website, you are asked whether you are a first-timer or a Castaway Club member. Does that mean the club members receive a reduced rate? If so, approximately how much of a discount?

no discount - they just use this info and note your ressie for the returning cruiser gifts (currently a beach towel & 2 pins per stateroom).

Our 9/11 cruise was sort of a mystery cruise so we ended up with a nice "special cruise" blanket which was fine since I already had the beach towel!

Bahahahaha!

Surely you jest?

In all seriousness, they don't need to offer discounts; most of the ships sail near capacity.

My biggest gripes with DCL are the lack of "niceties" for return cruisers (i.e. reservations for spa/Palo in advance) and the totally unorganized methodology for being a Castaway Club member. We never got cards (not that we need them, but it's irksome all the same) and there is nothing "special" about being a return guest outside of a special check-in line and the towel/pin combo (that desperately needs to be changed). It just seems like an afterthought.

Don't forget about the "cocktail party" for CC Club members.......

oh do you mean the castaway club reception that was held at the EXACT SAME TIME as the special kids show?

Note: we did the kids show.......

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: That's the funniest dang thing I've heard in a long time:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (no disprespect to the OP - it's just that DCL doesn't give discounts!!)

How to become a CC member By actually sailing ONCE on DCL:boat:

do you mean the castaway club reception that was held at the EXACT SAME TIME as the special kids show? NO. At least on the Magic it is not. THe kids show is on the last day and the CC reception is much earlier in the cruise. Usually a sea day.

But if you book your next cruise onboard isn't there a (yikes, I hate to say the word....) DISCOUNT? Maybe DCL calls it something else...

Thanks!

Pidge, I was going to ask the same thing!

DCL does, at times, make offers for re-booking onboard. One of the more recent onboard re-booking offers from time to time has been 10% off DCL's pricing of the cruise you book onboard and a $200 per stateroom booked onboard credit for that cruise.

Of course like anything these offers are not automatic on any cruise. DCL does have the right to not offer any re-booking, or any offer for re-booking, while onboard. They did this with our re-scheduled 9/4/04 cruise as they were too busy with other things on the cruise to re-book any future cruises at that time.
