Redeeming with American. Extra fees?

Has anyone redeemed rewards with American for a trip? Were you charged extra fees? If so, for what? Your experiences please

If you mean a AA FF award you will have to pay the taxes.

If you are checking luggage, there is also a charge unless you are (or someone on your PNR is) an elite or your are using a First and Business Class MileSAAver® Award. or a First, Business and Economy Class AAnytime® Award.

If you book your ticket by phone or in person or within 20 days of travel, there is also a fee. -- Suzanne
