Redeem US Air Miles

I found a site today that might be helpfull to some members who would like to redeem US Air miles for gift certificates etc.

I think that in order to use this site to redeem your Dividend Miles, you need to have a USAirways Visa card. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I would like to redeem my DM while they're still good for something, but I won't pay the $50 annual fee for the Visa card in order to do it.

No that's not my understanding. You can pay $29.95 and have unlimited transactions. This would be the best deal if you had two US Air accounts and a few others that you are not useing with enough miles/points to convert. If you just need a single transaction you can pay $9.95 for the service. As you can see they convert a lot of accounts. I have two American Airlines accounts that I can get over $100 on my starbucks card with. That's net after the $20 fee.

I just tried to exchange some of my Dividend Miles for a gift certificate at www.points.com, and got the following message:

We are unable to complete your Points Exchange because you are not a Dividend Miles Visa cardholder. In order to make debit exchanges out of your Dividend Miles Account, you must be a Dividend Miles Visa cardholder. Please note however that you are permitted to make credit exchange into your Dividend Miles Account without being a Dividend Miles Visa cardholder.

Docskhotinn, are you saying that I can get around this by paying a one-time $29.95 fee, or a $9.95 per transaction fee?

No. My apolagies. There is a new tag on US Airways that requires you to be a US Airways Visa holder to transfer miles out of that program. You can exchange other points into US Air but not out unless you are a holder of their Visa card. US Air is the only program with this stipulation. I'm transferring AAdvantage miles and Holiday Inn priority club points so I did not catch that. If you have less value then the $50 CC fee and you are not currently useing that CC then it would not work for you. If you do already have the US Air Visa or have more than the annual fee in points to transfer to certificates or other programs then it might still benefit some. One thing you might want to consider is if the US Air Visa is offering bonus miles to sign up with them. You typically have to apply, get the card, use it once, then wait a few weeks for the miles to show up. That may push your account value high enough to consider this as an option. Please note that my experience with airline CC's is with Northwest and AA. I have never used US Air. I am just assumeing their CC programs work in a similar fashion.
