Red Rose Tavern - busy?

I wonder if they changed it? Or if the batches vary? Mine was absolutely not "mainly a cake," it was mainly icing. There was a teeny bit of cake in the middle.

I've had it 3 times. It was always the same. I also had the lemon dessert and that one had just a tiny bit of berry filling, like a spoonful. My Grey Stuff was more cake and cookie than grey stuff every time. Sounds like you got a bad one.

It also doesn't have a buttercream cosistency to me. It is more mousse like...has the same "air bubbles" structure of a mousse.

Here is a good review of it:

I've had the grey stuff twice. First back in March of 2017 and again last week. The cake portion is definitely bigger now. Quite a bit bigger. Still a lot of frosting, but it's not nearly so overwhelming as it used to be. Also, when I went it was quiet enough that I had no wait at all.

Interesting. I think I first had it around May 2017. Maybe in the beginning, it was different and people thought it was too "grey stuff" heavy, and they changed it.

Although the review I linked above was also from March 2017.

That is interesting! I had it in March of 2017, too.

Interesting. I’ve had grey stuff many many times and never noticed it changed at all.

We ate there twice the first week of this past February. The one time we ate it was their first day that they were open for breakfast and the other was for dinner. Both times were almost no wait. Maybe 1 person ahead of us is all. Lots of empty tables around outside too. The park overall was decent in crowd sizes that week (Tue-Fri) though so maybe that was part of it.
