My friend actually called the 800 # to find out what was going on. They said they still had rooms available for .01 in the Boston area, she informed the agent that she has looked at EVERY room in Mass and not one was listed as
.01 and the agent could not help or give her the room for the rate. We both looked online at different hotels at 12:00 and kept refreshing/ revisiting up until 12:30 ET.

I was just looking right now, and the Framingham location is listed for $.01 - go get 'em!

Red Roof Inn Buena Park
The budget hotel chain, Red Roof Inn, is about to launch a one-cent sale that runs from April 1 to April 15.

During this sale, 1% of the rooms at most of its 350 locations nationwide will be available for one night only for only one penny. (The only ones not participating are in Manhattan, Anchorage and Duluth, MN)

You can make a reservation for the sale for the first time on Wednesday (March 31) for April 1 and 2 online at RedRoof.com at 9 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. Only one room per property will be available per day, so you’ll want to be ready to book right at the dot of 9…

Then, every day, the sale will start over again at 9 a.m. for the following two days, until the last day, April 13, for April 14 and 15.

Note that locally, there are locations near Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park and near the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana.

In case you remember it, there was a location near Disneyland that had converted from a Motel 6, but it reverted back into a Motel 6 awhile ago.

Also, if you’re thinking about trying to grab this deal for a California spring break trip, here are some ideas:

The Red Roof Inn located in Watsonville is near attractions in the Monterey area.
The Thousand Palms location is near Palm Springs and the Agua Caliente casino
The Burlingame location is near the San Francisco Airport with a free airport shuttle
The Buena Park location is near Knott’s Berry Farm

So, I was able to book a room for San Antonio Seaworld for this weekend. It took several tries before it would actually come up on the screen. But it finally came up at about 5 minutes after 12est.

I have never stayed at a Red Roof but hopefully it is nice. Good Luck trying everyone!

Thanks OP! Haven't gotten a room yet. I need one for next weekend for a college visit. There are three to choose from within an hour of the college, and there were one cent rooms available at all three this afternoon. Maybe there's a chance I'll be able to grab one when they come up next weekend. It has even got me to consider making it a two day trip and driving to another college Saturday night, because there is a Red Roof Inn in that town, too, that was showing availability. Awesome deal for those that can get it.

Do you just go to the main site and fill out the information to book a room like normal and these specials pop up as one of the options? Or is there some special link/option you have to click or a code to enter?

I would love to have one of these for next week.

yes you just go to redroof.com and click on the link for a penny. You will see it and try to book as you normally would. When the prices come up in the section you will see 0.01. Hope that helps!

ARGH!!! I am so frustrated. The .01 room came up, I clicked on it and entered my information and submitted and got an error message from the site!

So I called to see if maybe it had gone through anyway and of course not. They have no record of it, and she called the hotel directly and there is no record. And of course now they are back to the standard rates.

I was already planning on a day trip and getting a room for .01 would mean that we would stay overnight and make it a 2 day trip-- so no tired mom trying to drive home. I want to try again tomorrow but we have an appt at 11am so don't think I will be home in time.

We stayed at Red roof last night. The guy working there was really nice but he hadn't heard about the promotion. The room was ok. The fan was loud. Tim turned on the air conditioner for a minute and it was really loud. The boys had fun though they didn't want to come home.

any idea of how much the 1cent room cost after all the taxes/fees. We have one reserved for tomorrow night. It is local so we might not stay over but it will be nice to spend the afternoon swimming. When we got offered a 1cent room we weren't asked smoking/non smoking and was given a smoking room.

I booked a 1cent room today in Lancaster PA. I tried around 11:30 am (EST) and saw regular rates, but when I tried 20 minutes later at 11:50, the 1cent rate appeared. I noticed this yesterday also that the rate appeared a few minutes before noon. When I tried after 12:00, the website was so slow. I would suggest trying a few minutes before noon.

I just wanted to say Thank You! to the OP. I was able to get a room for 1 penny for our trip home from visiting family. We needed 2 rooms no matter where we were going to stay so it ended up saving us a good bit of money. The room itself was not the greatest in the world but I just needed someplace to sleep for a few hours before driving again. They even held our rooms for us until we got there at 3am.
