I dunno. I think Godsmack - Awake and Smashing Pumpkins - Zero sounds different.

When they play those two songs at the same time, it's like, the exact same.

really, it is familiar, however they've got two different kind of sounds. it's basically the intro and how in Mary Janes Last Dance they keep on using Indiana and how in Dani California they're playing the city name game.
i don't like this song very much, but the beginning is really catchy.
mary janes last dance is amazing though.

The lyrics and melody were pretty similar, but the music was DEFINITELY a rip off. I'm disappointed in those guys.

I would also like to say that it was probably just one of those things where they had heard the tune before, and when they were writing songs, whoever probably thought of that tune, and wrote it down not realizing that it was already done.

I've done the exact same thing.
