Everyone,

Bruce got a call today from the shirt company. They informed him that we could not use the name "Epcot" on the shirt as it is currently written. They called us because we were the only contact information they had, presumably because we were the first to order. I will email Turkygurl to let her know. Stay tuned for further developments.

I can see if the word "Epcot" was in the same font that Disney uses on the signs, etc., because it's a trademark and has copyrights, but it wasn't. I've seen the words "Magic Kingdom" and "Epcot" on several shirts that weren't produced by Disney and were professionally printed/silkscreened.

What kind of surprises me is that they had a problem with the word "Epcot" and not with an image from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", which is owned by a major film studio. :confused3

I know my opinion doesn't count for much here, but I think it's alright to use the word so long as it's not in the font that Disney created for it. (There are printers out there that will allow you to print the symbolic "Mickey ears/head" on a T-shirt, so I'm having problems understanding why they won't allow the use of a word if it's not being used in a blatantly negative context.)

We've ran into this issue due us making some of our own Disney shirts, most notably, the Disneydork one. We get more people wanting one of those shirts (paypal donation? ;) )

Almost all sites, especially cafe' press and zazzle kicked the design back because it had the word Disney in it. If the word is used anywhere (or EPCOT, etc) they'll kick it back. Goes for images as well. I made a tshirt one that had Kermit on it, and it got kicked back.

But, we did find one company that doesn't have as much a problem and you sign a waiver stating that you're not making it for mass production and advertising and using it only for personal use.

My MK shirt got bounced from 3 companies -
so I just did it myself :snooty:

It's why we bought our own transfer paper, laser printer and tshirt press. We have grand ideas of doing our bear shirts ourselves, but haven't done anything about it. The laser printer and press does the same quality as we buy online. We are doing our own Sisters of the Yellow Rose shirts for working events and they came out great. All our tshirts we print/press ourselves. They last just as long too.

How much of a donation?
I'll PM you.

You guys own a T-SHIRT PRESS? :rotfl2: That's awesome.

The one time we had custom shirts done I went to the mall and had the guy print off the images from the internet. The shirts looked great. I took them home and washed them, in COLD, air dried them and the ink ran EVERYWHERE. Took them back, guy re-printed them for me. I guess you aren't supposed to air dry them?

Anyway, it was labor intensive AND it cost an arm and a leg so I haven't done custom shirts since.

LOL it's not as grand as it sounds. They're about $500 and they not just for tshirts. They're a heat press. Steven used it for a work project where the company wanted lettering on tiles, so he found special heat transfers for tiles, of all things. It's mainly used for t's though. It's actually not that big, just enough for a design.

My friend bought a screenprinting machine to make T's. She said it is a pain in the tush to deal with and the ink is really expensive.

I never thought seriously about trying to iron the design on the T's myself. There is just no way my domestic skills are that advanced. I know I wouldn't be able to center it, iron it on without it sticking or some other disaster, and then KEEP DOING IT for a minimum of 3 shirts. Nope. No way.

And you can use it to make Paninis for lunch! :rotfl2:

Ordered my shirt today and paid the extra 25% to get it delivered to the house before I get to Orlando. Let's hope that when it says delivery in a week it means it.

Hmmmmm......Disney resorts accept ticket deliveries from non-Disney-owned travel agencies for guests who will be staying there........so I wonder if they'd accept UPS packages too. :confused3

I just saw ConcK's post on the other thread. I guess they do accept packages.

Be careful though. I have read where some deliveries are delivered no charge through the front desk, but at convention resorts they are delivered via convention services, and a hefty fee is charged to your account....

Not sure how the whole process works....:confused3

I also ordered my shirt with Rush delivery. i don't know about you all, but I hope it will survive one washing before wearing. :laundy:
