Just out of curiosity. What are everyone's recurring monthly expenses? This is defined as bills like utilities, insurance, credit card minimum payments, etc. Do NOT count household expenses like food, gas or clothing. I'm talking about those bills that you absolutely HAVE to pay every month (i.e. obligations). Do NOT include costs related to housing like rent, mortgage or property tax, but DO include renters or homeowners insurance.

For us, family of 4:
$1550/month

Probably around $3000? Insurance (car, home, health, life) cellphones, cable, utilities, landscaper....

About $675.
Gas, electric, phone (2 cell plans), cable/internet, car insurance, health insurance. 2 people, renting. (This excludes extra stuff like Hulu, Disney+, Netflix.)

Off the top of my head I'd say around $1400?
DirecTV, internet & electric are our only utilities so to speak, we use about $150 worth of propane a year. Plus we are paying off a small farm vehicle
No car or car insurance payments, so that helps immensely.

off the top of my head-$650 ish but we don't pay insurance or propane/propane tank rental monthly (either an annual or bi-annual payment for each). if i prorate that in it's about $900 total.

family of 3

So basically just utilities and insurances? For us this is water, natural gas, hydro, internet, house insurance, car insurance, life insurance and two cell phones. I would say right around $750/month.
Family of 3 in our home.

ETA) we also have a car payment of $445 a month but there are only 3 payments left and I will never finance another car as long as I live so I’m very excited to be done with that ::yes::.

About $775 for a family of 5 - natural gas heat, electric, water/sewer/trash, cell phone bill (5 lines), Netflix, internet, home, car & life insurance.

We also send an additional $800 a month to a long term savings account that we use to pay once or twice yearly expenses like property taxes, homeowners insurance, life insurance, car licenses, etc. $335 of the $800 is included for expense items listed above (water/sewer/trash, home, car & life insurance).

You'd have to count the car payment, for the purpose of this question. But I'm right there with you on a car payment that will be gone this year and I hope to never have another!

Once we take that away, we will be around $1100/month.

Some of these like utilities are variable and change throughout the year.

absolutely. we are on a balance payment plan w/our power so i just used the amount we pay on it (we usually end up with a refund or it dropping in cost year to year).

Around 1100 for a family of 4 - car insurance (3 cars, 3 people including DS20), life insurance, utilities, cable/internet, cell phones (4 phones), pet insurance and Netflix/Hulu/Disney plus.

We drive older cars (2006 and 2010) and plan on giving DD the 2010 in the next year or two so we will have some sort of car payment eventually.

We may cut the cable in May when our contract is up.

January was just under $1850. Regular bills include gas, electric, water, trash, car insurance, rental insurance, life insurances, cellular, internet, ATT TV, a musical instrument rental, orthodontist, and a couple small subscription type items, a yearly Sirius radio renewal.

January and July bills are our more expensive months. Includes quarterly water bill and trash bill (both bills auto draft in Jan, Apr, Oct), and the car insurance paid twice a year paid in Jan and July. In January I did get the USAA rebate so the car insurance bill got a little relief. In July the bill auto draft combines my car insurance and yearly rental insurance so it's higher then.

February will be just over $800.

Family of 5...

Gas & Electric, Cable internet, Water (that's only quarterly, but if we want to pretend this month is one of those billed months), Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ Bundle... I pay homeowners / car insurance in a lump sum at the beginning of the year, but if I broke that down into 12 months...

So that's the base stuff-- $480 / month, or thereabout.

Of course with 3 children there are a jillion other monthly extracurricular expenses but I'm guessing that would count under the household expenses that you don't want included.

Family of 4:

Around $1800 - Cell phones, TV/internet, car/life insurance, electric/gas/water, private school (4 more payments and then becomes a college payment).
No credit card debt or car payment.

Under a grand a month. Some of these like utilities are variable and change throughout the year.

What are you trying to figure out?

As said, just curiosity. Not trying to figure out anything. Just trying to get a sense of how variable these kinds of monthly liabilities are among different people.

Family of 4 in a moderate COL area (Philly burbs) - relatively large, old house -
$2177
- does not include monthly funding of sinking funds for auto, vet, house, and Christmas
- does not include any subscriptions, whether monthly or sinking funds for quarterly/yearly
- does not include lawn care, which is $100 extra a month during the growing season
- does not include homeowners' insurance or property taxes, which is part of my mortgage payment/escrow - and I live in NJ so my property taxes are insane
-
includes debt payments - minimums on credit cards, auto loan, student loan, braces on the youngest

My checkbook and credit card statement indicate about $1,150 a month for two adults. Seems low but you excluded the biggies like property tax and insurance. And you include minimum credit card payments, which I don't have.

Insurance should be included.

Where do you live? Gas/electric here is over $400 a month, cable/internet $155, cellphone for 7 of us $350, car insurance almost $1000 a month, landscaper $150, terminate $35, water $50, steaming subscriptions probably $30...
