Hi everyone. I hurt my foot and would like to try a recumbent bike for exercise in order to give my foot time to heal. I usually walk, do aerobics & kickboxing, and I like an intense workout. I have never used a recumbent bike and have no desire to join a gym.

Can I get a good cardio workout on one of these? I haven't been on a bike since I was 12. I found some with good reviews on Amazon but want to make sure I'll still sweat if I use it. Thanks.

the recumbent bike is my DH preferred cardio machine, for me at the peak of my fitness it was not challenging...however, I would think if you could crank up the resistance high enough you'd get your HR up

Honestly, if you are in great condition, most of the ones aimed at the home market are designed to be a clothes hanger.

If you really want a recumbent, look to a club level one (i.e. Life Fitness). Or for a better overall body workout, look for an Ergometer... better known as an indoor rowing machine. I have used these through my many periods of recovering from injury...
