We are planning on buying the Southern California passes with our package. However I can't get too excited about going to Knott's. Except for a few rides in Camp Snoopy really what are we going to do with a 17 month old there. Wondering if we should plan on a 4th day at DL/DCA instead.... Save $ if we could get 4 days Disney and just pay for SW and the Zoo seperate.

So what do you guys think...

1.) What are the chances of having the 5 days for the price of 3 tickets in Feb 05? Right now valid only until Jan3.

2.) Is it worthwhile going to Knott's?

3.) Could we entertain a toddler for 4 days at the 2 DL parks?

I also have the california pass and will be going to knotts, I think it looks cool with the glass blowing, and all the interesting things to see. Also they are suposed to have a very famous chicken dinner and do not foget funnel cakes :)
I can not go on any of the rides ( small kids) and no hubby to go this time. So we will spend part of the day there, then off to the marketplace mall ( 200 stores with up to 70% off)

A 17 month old might not enjoy Knott's so much. I think 4 days at DL would be much better with a child that age. I would certainly allow you to take mid-day breaks if you needed to, either it or out of the parks for naps and such.

:( I hate to be a negative nellie -- but -- I was extremely disappointed in Knotts the last time we were there and our kids were big enough to ride all of the rides. I personally wouldn't waste my time. Go for the extra time at DL or DCA.

You can get the famous Knotts chicken dinner without going into the park!! It's a really good meal...well worth the trip over!;)

I haven't heard any raves about Knotts---mostly negative. I was looking into it a few months ago when I went to California.

I'll second that suggestion. Their Chicken Dinner restaurant is open for breakfast also, and it's very good, in my opinion. Plus the shopping area outside of the park is worth a look.

The 5-for-3 tickets have been available every year since at least 1999. I'd be very surprised if they discontinued them for 2005, especially considering that they want people to spend as many days in the parks as possible this coming year (well, and every year).

I hated Knotts. I used to love Knott's, but last time we were there we just hated it. Left after not even an hour. We did have the chicken dinner, but found it greasy and the chicken was actually not thoroughly cooked.

We just went back to Disneyland :)

And yes, you most definitely can entertain a toddler for 4 days at the DL parks. Just remember to take it slowly, not try to get everything in all at once, and take a break mid-day to go back to the room and nap/swim/rest/whatever.

Maxie I just have to ask - you're looking through a FunSun brochure aren't you? :)

Hi

I really do not like Knott's. I used to, but not anymore. But I still stop and pick a chicken dinner to go every few months. ;)

I would go for the 4 day hoppers. Through the Walt Disney Travel Co. the 5 for 3 day is not available next year. If you are going during Jan-Apr 28th, there are a few deals going on. One is 1:1 ratio kids free and the other is Adults for the kids price (you have to choose which is better for your family) When you call WDTC they will tell you which promo is better for you.

Sooz :flower:

I you think the 3 day pass to DL is enough time then go with the City Pass and just forgo Knotts. That's what we are doing this summer. I priced everything out separately and found the city pass to be a good deal for my family of five.

Maxie, wait on the park passes. You're not going until Feb, and it will only take 2 weeks max to get the passes into any travel agency here in Winnipeg. If they don't have the special Canadian 5-for-3 promo, then you can order something else. We won't be getting the winter brochures in the offices until sometime in late October/early November.

FunSun has their product launch in September, if they don't mention anything about the passes for next year in their presentation I'll corner the rep and find out if they know what's going on with them.

Also, consider upgrading whatever pass you get to an AP when you're there. For the 5-for3 I think the upgrade cost was in the $30-$40 range for the Deluxe AP. After all, Westjet is flying from Winnipeg into LAX starting in October, and some of their seat sales can be mighty attractive. Hotel rates for the DL area, especially in the fall, are usually quite good.

Thanks for all the advice! After talking to DH we decided to do 4 days of the DLR rather than 3 days and 1 day Knott's YAAAYYY MORE DISNEY!!!

Just didn't seem like much at Knott's for the little guy.

So guess we'll take a pass on the City passes and hope for a deal on a 5 day pass.

I have to agree with all of the previous posters.........I would definitely spend the extra day(2) at DL rather than at Knotts. We went in June, hadn't been there since 1969! My son is 8 and I have to say that we were bored. The kiddie rides were no different or more impressive than those found at your average community carnival. There were very few rides that were in between......it was either hokey or white-knuckle......and I was suprised at how many of the rides were not operating. The lines for food were incredibly long and slow moving and the cost was no less than DL. We did actually have a very good dinner at Mrs. Knott's. I didn't feel too bad as we had discounted tickets. Had I paid more, I would have felt ripped off. I don't think we will return again. DL/DCA, on the other hand, were wonderful and we had a great time! I'm sure you will, too.

We went to DLR last February and included trips to Magic Mountain and Knotts. Neither MM or Knott's can compare to DL, but had their good points. I thought the crowds were unmanageable at Knott's without fastpass. Our one highlight at Knott's for an older child was the Xcelerator roller coaster. We booked over to it when the park opened and road 4-5 times without getting off. After that lines for "big" rides were too long. We had fun though and were glad we went. MM was a zoo. We like roller coasters and the lines were long. We finally broke down and bought the passes to avoid the lines. It was a pricey proposition. We also spent four days at DLR and loved each one. I wouldn't go to either MM or Knotts if I had four days or less for DLR. I doubt we will be going to either one again in the foreseeable future. We are planning a trip to DLR next August (four days) and plan a day at Legoland which we've enjoyed in the past. Happy Planning!

Skip Knott's. Definately not worth the money, and how much does a young one enjoy waiting and waiting and waiting in line? You can stay entertained at Disney for 4 days.
