Recommended Vacuum?

Gosh, I am so sick of wasting money on vacuum cleaners that don't have great suction and that spit the dust out as fast as I vac it in.

Drives me NUTS to vac a section of carpet and move on to another section, only to look back and see a few specks of dust or crumbs back where I had just vacuumed....

And I shouldn't have to go over the same section of carpet 3-4 times just to pick up one stubborn thread lying there either...

I am willing to spend the money if it's a vacuum worthy of the cost.

Any recommendations? Life is too short to get all upset & angry over vacumming my bedroom carpet, lol.

Best thing we ever bought was out iRobot Roomba!!!! I love to sit on the couch and watch it suck up all the fur from our two Labs and hairy cat!!!

I have two different models of Miele vacuums (canister and upright). I've not been disappointed at all and I have animals! They run around $700.

The kids bought me a Dyson a few years ago for Christmas and I have been very happy with it. Is it possible that the vacuum you have has either a clog in the hose or something stuck around the roller?

Love my Shark Navigator. I bought it, after being frustrated with a more expensive bagless Hoover and a less expensive bagless can't-remember-the-brand-name-of-it.

I had trouble with both of the other ones, losing suction, needing to have DH take it out to the shop and use the air compressor on it, spitting dirt and dust out the bottom, etc. None of that with the Shark. Love the ease of emptying the dirt cup, and it sucks up the cat hair off the back of the couch wonderfully.

I was in the same boat... blew out expensive vacuums every couple years including a dyson and a rainbow.

I love my Miele but I hate the plastic clip that holds the hose.... my kids already broke it and there is pretty much no fixing it.

But if your the only one vacuuming and can take notice of that default it is a good vacuum.

Mine broke off my Miele Salsa, too, and I took it to the vacuum shop and they replaced the back. I wish they would redesign that little piece. It's way too easy for it to break off. Still the best money I've spent on a vacuum.

I'm not sure about this clip that you speak of. I have an Artico and then I have the upright and I'm just not aware of a clip. If I have one, it has not broken yet but the vacuum (Artico) is about 8 years old.

Miele really is the best. So well designed and so quiet! No silly gimmicks.

About 3 years ago, I bought the Dyson Animal (we have cats). It was $500. Frankly, my old Hoover worked just at well. I'm very disappointed that the Dyson doesn't edge better. I don't think I'd buy one again.

You can see the clip here. It's a grab from the Miele site, so I put an arrow pointing to it. I can take a picture of mine if you want something clearer/larger.

I second the Shark Navigator that we got at Kohls with 30% off. It has great suction and I can't believe how much dog hair it picks up!

I bought a Dyson Animal about 6 years ago and it's still running strong. Also have 2 Roomba 630s, one for each of two floors of the house, and love those too. It's so nice to be able to just press a button and let the maid do the work.

I've had good luck with Oreck. My first one lasted 22 years before it died. I just bought another one about 6 months ago. I think it cost $300...the basic upright model, nothing fancy but works well.

Before I bought my first Oreck I had a Kirby vacuum that someone had given us because they were moving...supposed to be among the best of the best. The thing weighed a ton, did what seemed to be an OK job vacuuming.

I finally decided I was sick of pushing the big heavy thing around so we bought the Oreck. The first time I used it, I was AMAZED at how much it sucked out of the rugs....I mean, you could hear the stuff going into the vacuum. All I could think was "Well that's all the stuff the Kirby HASN'T been picking up".

I love my Oreck as well. It has lasted a long time and the cord cover is finally fraying where it attaches. I am hoping it can be fixed, because I don't want to start over.

Maybe we had a dud Oreck because ours never worked well and the belt was always breaking and we only had one area rug to clean!!

I also have the Dyson animal. Love it. Almost 10 years old, still great suction and power, easy to use hose and tools.

Bought a Eureka Multi cyclone at Walmart. It was about 169 or so, and it is the best vacuum I ever owned.
