Recommended summer resort

I was just looking to make long term plans for using our points. We are in the process of buying 125 BLT resale contract. Our typical vacation pattern is 2 trips every 3 years. 5 nights November, skip the next year, and then 7 nights in the summer. With the amount of points we are getting I'm trying to stretch them as far as we can with realistic expectations. At our current usage with a planned 2012 trip coming we will have 240 points available for a summer trip come 2014. At current points charts (2013) we will need to borrow 28 points to get a 1 br at BLT.

Now we are open to staying anywhere in the summers and would love to try all the resorts over the years, but BLT will be our Nov destination.

So, the question is at 7 months out in dream season, what are the chances at getting: BWV standard, OKW, SSR, and AKV standard? Just curious as these four choices would allow us to stay 1 br without borrowing any points.

You didn't mention BCV...but that would be my first pick. Could you do one night on dvc discounted cash to save points or to save you from borrowing? I think you could stay at any of the other 4 you mentioned with no problem at the 7 month mark.

I didn't include beach club because it's 269 points. BLT is 268. I'm not saying we wouldn't consider staying there or other places for those points, I'm just curious about the ones listed as it's possible without borrowing.

I'm not opposed to borrowing at that time. We originally planned to buy a 100 point contract, but when the 125 came along with the UY we wanted, with banked points included (94), we decided to make an offer on that instead of 100 points. This allows to stay in 1 br almost every trip instead of alternating studio's in Nov, and 1 br in the summers. We will surely borrow to make the BLT reservation at 11 months, and then see what's open at 7 months and bank that current years extra points if one of the listed places is open.

What I am not well versed in is the cash discounts. I know nothing about those and if it works out for us, then hey I'm all for it. I did this thinking sometime in the future, a Nov. trip might have to be in a studio to make it all work. Of course, the next planned trip for Nov after this year would be 2015. Kids will be 6 and 10 so we'll see how that goes

The way this years trip is planned, we have the points for a 2br and my mother and stepfather are going with us. I can't arrive until day 2 because of my work schedule, and if this is the case in future years, we can save points by using a studio the first night, and a 1 br the next 4. I'm sure my wife and kids will be just fine in a studio for the first night.

I think you would have the best chances at SSR or AKL kidani . Both are big resorts and two of the least popular ones.
