Hi, I have had a browse around this site and I still can't make my mind up on where to have our Wedding Reception. We are getting married at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion next door to the Grand Floridian; I was thinking about 1900 Park Fare as we have young children and the character interaction would be lovely and it’s on the door step! There are 18 of us in total ranging from 2 years to 40s. I don’t want anything too formal as I would be worried that the children would get restless; it’s going to be a long day. Character dinners would be nice or something along that line. I don’t want to look out of place in my dress either. Thank you in advance x

I would ask on the weddings and honeymoons board...Those guys have been there and done it in most restaurants on property and can give you good advice. Our wedding was at home, so I'm not too familiar with the locations.

I have asked on the wedding board but most people prefer to dine somewhere more formal, that’s why I have come here. I am looking for somewhere to have dinner so thought this would be more appropriate as it is titled 'Disney’s restaurants' but thanks anyway. Maybe I could have worded it better, not really a wedding reception as we are having a cake cutting reception after the ceremony. Just looking for a nice place to eat with good food that’s child friendly!

I say "go for it!" I think a picture with you in your dress and the Fairy Godmother would be priceless! :goodvibes

We're trying this resteraunt for the first time in May and I've heard a lot of good reviews! I can't wait to try the strawberry soup. :thumbsup2 If you do decide to go there, I need to see a pic of you and Prince Charming! It'd be cute to have one of your hubby and Cindy, too! :) That way I can live vicarisouly through you! (My reception was at a VFW! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Congrats! :wizard:

We did not care for the dinner character meal here although the breakfast one was not too bad. It would be neat to wear your dress there though. I think that Crystal Palace has the best character interaction and food, but IIRC, you cannot wear your dress into the theme parks. On the monorail, you could go for Chef Mickey's-the food is hit or miss, but the character interaction is great. Ohana would also be a lot of fun; there are no characters but there are coconut races and hula hoops for the children.

Thanks for your help, I have had a look at Ohanas Menu and there’s not much choice but Chef Mickey’s looks good. Like Bird-Mom said I can’t go into the parks with my dress on so the parks are ruled out but we do have a limo booked so we don’t mind having to travel to a restaurant.
Stitch65 - I would love to have my picture taken with Cinderella and Prince Charming - I am sure my other half wouldn’t mind getting his hands on Cinderella!

How "big" is your dress? The tables at 1900 Park Faire are pretty close together. I'm not sure you would be comfortable going back and forth to the buffet if you were seated in some of the sections and your dress is big. Chef Mickeys has a little more room, or at least tables that would allow for easier access to the buffet.

I would probably try to choose a restuarant with a menu instead. How about Whispering Canyons Cafe? Its really fun, kids love it, and they bring the food to your table.

i think 1900 is a GREAT place for a post-wedding meal... and they definitely offer something for everyone... have you talked to your disney wedding planner about ideas... they may know something we don't know... also, i read a trip report from janet2k (i think that's her disboard name) and she did a few fabulous venues for private parties, including a beachside bbq party to watch the fireworks that sounded outstanding... maybe something like that could be in your budget? it would be more private... but i also LOVE the idea of wedding pics w/the fairy GM and PC (and cindy for your dh2b! LOL!)

another idea would be kona at the poly, but that's not too fun for kids... or how 'bout the Spirit of Aloha? that would definitely entertain the kids! or, even better, imo, Hoop Dee Doo Revue!! that would be a night to remember :)

Gigi, I was coming back to post the same thing! I think the Hoop de Doo would be a blast! If you wanted to stick with characters, Chef Mickey's has a very festive atmosphere with the napkin twirling and more room for the dress like Shelly mentioned.

You are all so helpful! Thanks a lot. My wedding coordinator isn’t much help, because i am having a small wedding (18 pple) they don’t seem bothered 'just book it yourself attitude!' He said it might be easier to eat at the Grand Floridian but that is as much info as I got; thank god for disboards! I have a big Cinderella dress, I was thinking of husband to be getting my food for me! Start as you mean to go on! LOL! I really fancy the Hoop de Doo, it sounds great fun, don’t think id be able to wear my dress though - the kids would have a blast though!
