I looking for suggestion reading material for the world of DSLR. I am currently using Olympus sp 590 which I love but at time I would like more. I am not looking for camera suggestion or to upgrade now just what books everyone uses. I already owe two Bryan Peterson book- Understanding Exposure and Understanding Digital Photography. The whole exposure part with ISO, aperture, and shutter speed I seems to have learn to a point. It a lot of the other thing that I read in the post that makes my head spins at time.

Thanks
Arthur

Understanding Exposure is definitely a good, but I would also suggest these as well:

In general, I recommend all of Scott Kelby's books. His way of explaining things really works for me, and I have learned tons from every book of his I have read.

Joe McNally is one of my favorite photographers, so I really enjoy his books as well. The LIFE book is a good read for beginners and more advanced photographers.

I too have Scott Kelby's books (3 of them-the Digital Photogrpahy Book) and refer to them often. In fact, they are on my nightstand right now! He will tell you how to set up different shots in a short but sweet manner, what gear you should and shouldn't buy (with options from cheap to $$$), and tosses in some humor as well.

Well said, I've learned quite a bit reading Kelby's books. They are very easy to read and they are filled with some light humor to break thing up.

I recommend Ansel Adams series: "The Camera"; "The Negative"; and "The Print". These three books contain all the information we need to set exposure, process the image, and prepare the image for printing. The books also have plenty of information about lenses and their effect on perspective.

Although these books were written long before digital photography, light has not changed and the concepts are still the same.
