"So many golf courses-so little time", DH says. So does anyone have any recommendations of courses that are especially good. He's an avid golfer, single digit handicap. LOVES the sport!

Well yes, but they are all private and I am not longer a member. :(

I like Harber Town Golf Links as it was refurbished a couple of years ago.

And umm..
Oh yes, the Robert Trent Jones course at Pelmetto Dunes was refurbished last year or the year before as well.

It really depends. What kind of golf course does he like. Lots of hills, flat, long holes, short holes?

EDIT:
Honestly I haven't played golf in 5 years. However, when I did play golf I played mostly all private courses which wouldn't do you any good.

If you can answer those questions though I am sure some other people can give you more suggestions than Harbor Town and Rober Trent Jones, which I know was refurbished as my father redid the bridges and seawalls on both.

Hope that helps.

He played at Harbor Town last year. Loved it, but I didn't like the cost. It was very expensive, but he said it was something he "had" to do once. Robert Trent Jones was the designer of the course he plays here all the time, and he likes the style, so he's leaning towards that. Just looking for comments from others.

Well I am glad he liked Harbor Town.

One thing to remember. Golf is not a cheap sport. ;) LOL I.E. The Robert Trent Jones course isn't exactly cheap either. I don't remember the exact cost but I can call and get it for you tomorrow if you would like.

DH and DS really like the Indigo Run Golden Bear course.

You can also try some of the courses in Bluffton, like Island West or Rose Hill for lower fees. At this time of the year, however, I think you will get good rates anywhere.

Yes, the main reason we're going in February this year instead of March is that the golf rates usually go up in March. I think one of the reasons he hasn't decided yet is that he's having so much fun looking-LOL! And thanks, michaeln, he'd love to know the rates, as well as any "deals" for playing 2 courses or all 3 (Oh, I can hear it now-"But dear, it's so much cheaper if I play 3 times") at Palmetto Dunes.

I did some research on this last year. The concensus on the TUG board (under Eastern US forum) seemed to be Old South for quality and value. When we were staying at Barony Beach we had the option of playing this course for $42.

Ok I called and got Prices for Febuary at the Palmetto Dunes Courses for you.

These Prices are good for all 5 courses. The three at Palmetto Dunes and the two at Palmetto Hall.

If his tee time is before 11 AM the price per course is $85.

There are discounts for playing later in the day, but they do not have those prices for Febuary ready as of yet. At this time if you play after 1PM it is $55. It may stay the same or go down.

If you want to play two rounds in one day it will be: $155 = $77.5 per round
If you want to play three rounds in one day it will be $225 = $75 per round

When you buy multiple rounds you can play them all at the same course or at any of the 5 courses. Obviously if he is to play three rounds he will have to get there before 11 AM so that will save money.

All of these prices are per person.

I hope that helps.
